The DU Latinx Alumni Affinity network is here to say a huge congratulations to the graduating class of 2025 and offer graduates a warm welcome into the alumni community!

All graduating students and DULAA alumni are invited to have their photos taken on campus! Capture this special moment in your regalia, professional attire for a headshot or casual wear with family. Enjoy light bites and drinks while you celebrate. Each graduate and alum will receive up to three professionally edited photos!

*This event requires an RVSP due to the limited number of photography slots, but it is free and open to all DU community members.*

Giving Tuesday is December 3rd and the DULAA community would like to highlight our groundbreaking initiative aimed at ensuring the success of students who work directly to impact the Latinx community - Corazon de DULAA! Fully supporting the DULAA endowment, this project will provide tuition assistance to underserved students. The DU Latinx Alumni Affinity network (DULAA) extends a warm invitation to all DULAA members to attend this year's Senior & Family Photoshoot welcoming Latinx graduating seniors into the alumni community.

This annual tradition celebrates the achievements of Latinx-identifying graduating students through family, food, and photography. Each student and their families are invited to have memorable photos taken to commemorate the milestone.

When: Sunday, June 9th, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Where: Burwell Center for Career Achievement, first floor

DULAA familia, The Latinx Center and the Graduate School of Social Work have an amazing event coming up on April 18th. See details below:

Thursday, April 18, 2024, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
In-person Only, Craig Hall Community Room

Please join the Graduate School of Social Work in welcoming transgender activist Lia García for a free half day of conversation about artistic practice, social work and q***r expression. Attendees can choose to attend one or both of the workshops, but are encouraged to stay for the entirety of the event.

Lia García is a social worker and educator graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Activist and defender of the human rights of q***r and trans communities of color. Her work has focused on developing proposals for social and artistic intervention in complex spaces such as prisons, schools, hospitals and public spaces in order to combat transphobia. Her methodology is radical tenderness and affection.

Schedule of the Event:
- 4:00-4:15 p.m. - Arrival and Welcome
- 4:14-5:15 p.m. - Presentation (60 min)
Social work as a strategy of pedagogical and artistic intervention to combat gender violence.
- 5:15-5:45 p.m. - Break (Boxed meals and refreshments will be provided.)
- 5:45-7:15 p.m. - Workshop (90 min)
Body, time and space. Three keys to deepen your social work practice.
- 7:15-8:00 p.m. - Closing
