I'm so excited to be supporting my local SHRM Chapter and speaking at my home convention center! Come to the Mile High SHRM Conference at the Denver Convention Center on Friday February 2nd, and be sure to stay for the closing speaker, me!
And that’s a wrap on 2023 - last speaking engagement of the year. Grateful to the clients who remembered me, years after we worked together. “We’re still using what you did for us nine years ago. Can you come do that at my new company?”

Can you come?
My son turns 8 this week. It’s hard to believe. He’s growing up so fast - too fast for me, not fast enough for him.
His birthday wish? That I’m not on my phone on this birthday.
His request was eye opening and made me sad. I see myself as a parent who spends a lot of time with my child and always puts him first. Clearly, I am distracted. the phone away message doesn’t require an immediate reply

Requests always make an impression. When we’re building new relationships, requests make an even bigger impression. Repair a relationship, when you’ve asked for too much. Read this week’s blog. https://candidculture.com/2023/03/13/asking-for-too-much-can-damage-careers/

Saying no is always hard. But it’s always better to say no than to ignore requests, or to say yes and do nothing. Read this week’s blog and get the words to tell someone no. https://candidculture.com/2023/02/20/saying-no-is-better-than-saying-nothing-2/

Many people worry about giving feedback because they're concerned, they don’t have the ‘right’ words. They’re concerned they’ll say ‘it’ wrong and damage their relationships. Get the words to speak up, when you’re not sure if you should. Read this week’s blog. https://candidculture.com/2023/02/05/how-to-give-feedback-be-yourself-2/

We’ve all taken too long to reply to an email, missed a deadline, or simply taken too long to provide someone with information. Not sure what to say, when you don’t know what to say? Read this week’s blog. https://candidculture.com/2023/01/29/dont-leave-them-guessing-2/

This isn’t feedback!

Don’t wait for people to tell you what they need and expect (which often happens after breakdowns occur), set clear expectations at the beginning of anything new and ask for feedback as you make progress. Get more questions you should ask at work. Read this week’s blog. https://candidculture.com/2023/01/08/set-yourself-up-to-win-ask-more-questions/

Start the year with good relationships at work.

Happy Holidays from Candid Culture!
