TOMORROW!
The SheBop Young Women in Jazz Workshop is back—and it’s so much more than a workshop. We know firsthand how powerful it is to walk into a room and see yourself reflected on the bandstand. Spaces like this matter. They remind us that our voices, our stories, and our artistry belong in this music.
Led by director Annie Booth, SheBop is created for femme, female, and non-binary musicians who are ready to grow, connect, and take up space. Over the course of the day, participants will dive into small group playing, instrument masterclasses, jam sessions, improvisation workshops, and—just as importantly—mentorship and community-building with artists who have walked similar paths.
We believe jazz is strongest when it reflects all of us. This workshop is about building confidence, finding your voice, and being surrounded by people who see and support you.
The day will culminate in a community performance at 800 Kalamath.
Workshop Details:
Saturday, May 16, 2026 | 9am–6pm
MSU JAIM Building
800 Kalamath St, Denver
Final Performance:
5–6pm at Renegade Brewing
925 W 9th Ave, Denver
(Friends and family welcome! Food truck on site for dinner.)
Open to all instruments, voice, and ability levels—middle and high school students only.
Cost is $125, with scholarships available for any amount needed.
If you have questions, please reach out to [email protected].
We can’t wait to hear what you bring to the music.

“Pay It Forward” Scholarship Campaign 🎵🎸
Many of us in the CCJA community have seen the direct benefit that our programs bring to our friends, family and children. Since our founding in 1999 we have never turned away a student with financial need and every year the need for support continues to grow.
Our “Pay it Forward” campaign allows friends and family of CCJA alumni, donors and members of the community to sponsor CCJA students with financial need by paying for one to three academic year small group sessions (three is a full year).
Your donation will provide much more than musical education, it will ensure that Colorado musicians get access to world class musical mentorship, a place to develop technical skills, and a community that fosters development into adulthood.
Together we make Denver a strong music capital – please consider participating in our Pay it Forward campaign this year! For more information, please contact [email protected]. Make sure to select "Monthly" on the final donation page if you'd like your donation to be recurring.
DONATION OPTIONS
MESSENGERS - $30 a month – ($30/month over 12 months = 1 CCJA Small Group session)
BEBOPPERS - $60 a month – ($60/month over 12 months = 2 CCJA Small Group sessions)
JAZZ ALL-STARS - $90 a month – ($90/month over 12 months = 3 CCJA Small Group sessions for a full academic year)
or Donate what you can - $5 and $10 a month goes a long way!
