I help moms turn everyday moments into playful learning.

As a reading specialist and homeschool mama, I create simple, gentle preschool resources that build strong literacy foundations through play, connection, and confidence. šŸ’›šŸ“š

We’ve been ā€œtravelingā€ before the trip even begins! šŸ’œ

šŸ“˜Books from the library about the countries we’re visiting.
šŸ›ļøBuilding landmarks with Magna tiles (She's working on the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Seine River, and the metro!)
šŸ’¬Learning a few words in new languages!

Incorporating travel into learning is one of the most natural ways to explore:
✨ new cultures
✨ languages
✨ art & food
✨ the world beyond home

It’s hands-on, meaningful… and so much fun!!!!

This week in our gentle preschool… we’re exploring SPACE šŸš€šŸ’›

And it couldn’t be more perfect timing with the excitement around the Artemis program NASA launch!

Today’s activity was simple:
shapes → turned into a rocket ship

But she made it her own.

She added:
ā˜€ļø the sun
šŸ›°ļø ground control
āļø all the letters we’ve already learned

She was SO proud!

And that’s what I always come back to: when learning feels like play, kids take ownership, and that’s when it really sticks. šŸ’›

This is exactly why I created A Gentle Year of Preschool,
to give you simple, meaningful activities that spark creativity, confidence, and connection.

You don’t need complicated.
You just need the right foundation. ✨

The simplest activities are always the biggest hit!

Spray bottle + foam shapes + a glass door =
pattern play, fine motor practice, and so much joy

And when she was done?
We took it outside and cleaned everything in sight šŸ˜…

One of my favorite ways to teach letters? Making it a game! 🐣

Today we did a simple egg hunt:

• lowercase letters inside eggs
• uppercase letters on a poster
• match them together

This builds letter recognition in a hands-on, engaging way. Something about egg hunts that just captures kids' attention!

Want to take it further?
Have your child say the letter sound as they match.

Learning sticks when it feels like play!! šŸ’›

Sometimes the best thing you can do for learning…is just step outside.ā˜€ļø

I’ll say it…

Alphabet toys, books, and posters drive me a little crazy sometimes!šŸ˜…

If we’re teaching letter sounds, then the picture needs to MATCH the sound.

šŸ‘ Sheep is not /s/ (it’s /sh/)
šŸŠ Orange is not /o/ (it’s /or/)

These things matter when little kids are learning to read.

Clear, consistent sound-symbol connections make it so much easier for kids to build confidence.

That’s why everything I create uses the most common sound for each letter.

Because learning to read shouldn’t be confusing from the start. šŸ’›

As a Reading Specialist and homeschool momma, I’m always looking for activities that build reading and thinking skills, and coding does exactly that!

HOW??

1ļøāƒ£Sequencing šŸ”¢
When kids place these commands in the right order, they’re practicing step-by-step thinking. That’s the same skill they use when blending sounds together to read a word!

2ļøāƒ£Problem-Solving 🧠
If something doesn’t work, they go back, fix it, and try again. That flexible thinking and persistence? That is so powerful!!

3ļøāƒ£Confidence šŸ’Ŗ
There’s nothing better than watching kids solve something independently!!

If you’re looking for screen time that actually builds real skills, try coding for kids with . It’s such a meaningful way to grow thinking skills at home! šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰

I don’t believe preschool should feel stressful.

It should feel warm. Playful. Doable. šŸ’œ

That’s exactly why I created my gentle preschool curriculum, for moms who want structure without pressure!

You’re doing better than you think.šŸ’œ

Behind every homeschool day is…
a plan that might change!

Today we called our own snow day ā„ļø

Watching Bluey, snuggled on the couch, wearing princess dresses, while the snow falls outside.

And honestly… this might be the best kind of learning day. šŸ’›
