Weāve been ātravelingā before the trip even begins! š
šBooks from the library about the countries weāre visiting.
šļøBuilding landmarks with Magna tiles (She's working on the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Seine River, and the metro!)
š¬Learning a few words in new languages!
Incorporating travel into learning is one of the most natural ways to explore:
⨠new cultures
⨠languages
⨠art & food
⨠the world beyond home
Itās hands-on, meaningful⦠and so much fun!!!!

This week in our gentle preschool⦠weāre exploring SPACE šš
And it couldnāt be more perfect timing with the excitement around the Artemis program NASA launch!
Todayās activity was simple:
shapes ā turned into a rocket ship
But she made it her own.
She added:
āļø the sun
š°ļø ground control
āļø all the letters weāve already learned
She was SO proud!
And thatās what I always come back to: when learning feels like play, kids take ownership, and thatās when it really sticks. š
This is exactly why I created A Gentle Year of Preschool,
to give you simple, meaningful activities that spark creativity, confidence, and connection.
You donāt need complicated.
You just need the right foundation. āØ

The simplest activities are always the biggest hit!
Spray bottle + foam shapes + a glass door =
pattern play, fine motor practice, and so much joy
And when she was done?
We took it outside and cleaned everything in sight š

One of my favorite ways to teach letters? Making it a game! š£
Today we did a simple egg hunt:
⢠lowercase letters inside eggs
⢠uppercase letters on a poster
⢠match them together
This builds letter recognition in a hands-on, engaging way. Something about egg hunts that just captures kids' attention!
Want to take it further?
Have your child say the letter sound as they match.
Learning sticks when it feels like play!! š

Sometimes the best thing you can do for learningā¦is just step outside.āļø

Iāll say itā¦
Alphabet toys, books, and posters drive me a little crazy sometimes!š
If weāre teaching letter sounds, then the picture needs to MATCH the sound.
š Sheep is not /s/ (itās /sh/)
š Orange is not /o/ (itās /or/)
These things matter when little kids are learning to read.
Clear, consistent sound-symbol connections make it so much easier for kids to build confidence.
Thatās why everything I create uses the most common sound for each letter.
Because learning to read shouldnāt be confusing from the start. š

I donāt believe preschool should feel stressful.
It should feel warm. Playful. Doable. š
Thatās exactly why I created my gentle preschool curriculum, for moms who want structure without pressure!
Youāre doing better than you think.š

Behind every homeschool day isā¦
a plan that might change!
Today we called our own snow day āļø
Watching Bluey, snuggled on the couch, wearing princess dresses, while the snow falls outside.
And honestly⦠this might be the best kind of learning day. š

I created the preschool curriculum I couldn't find for toddlers and preschoolers.
Simple.
Gentle.
Play-based.
Choose 1ā2 activities a day. Follow your childās lead.
It doesnāt have to be overwhelming to be effective.
