Today, we celebrate the symbol of our nation’s unity and freedom—the American flag. Flag Day, observed on June 14th, commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States on this day in 1777. For over two centuries, the American flag has represented the enduring values of liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness.
The flag’s 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies, while the 50 stars symbolize our 50 states. Each star and stripe is a reminder of the sacrifices made for our country and the ongoing commitment to uphold the principles of democracy and freedom. 🇺🇸✨
Flag Day is more than just a celebration of a piece of cloth; it’s a day to reflect on our nation’s history, honor those who have served, and appreciate the freedoms we enjoy. From waving flags in parades to displaying them proudly at homes and businesses, today is a day to come together and show our patriotism.
As we honor the flag, let’s also remember the people and events that have shaped our nation. From the brave soldiers who fought for our independence to the leaders who have guided us through times of change, the flag is a testament to our resilience and unity.
How can you celebrate Flag Day?
Display your American flag at home or in your yard.
Attend a local Flag Day ceremony or parade.
Teach your children about the history and significance of the flag.
Reflect on what the flag means to you and your family.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy and the symbol that unites us all. Wishing everyone a proud and patriotic Flag Day! 🇺🇸🎉

This one was a hard fought and scored their first cookie party. My math group made their single digit subtraction goal in 6 weeks. Half of the group didn’t know or heard of subtraction. Who knew they’d get this one before addition🤷🏼♀️. I’m so proud of them. Now only to figure out what the next one is.😁
This is the part my students struggle big time! It’s hard learning to read. They have worked their butts off getting to the world of digraphs. But has we do we need to continue to build automaticity.

A short(ish) clip about how cognitive psychology and neuroscience have begun to dissect the neuronal mechanisms of literacy using brain-imaging techniques. During reading acquisition, our brain circuitry recycles several of its pre-existing visual and auditory areas in order to reorient them to the processing of letters and phonemes.

The response to intervention (RTI) process is a type of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for providing services and interventions to struggling learners at increasing levels of intensity. It includes:
Universal screening
High-quality instruction
Interventions matched to student need
Frequent progress monitoring, and
The use of child response data to make educational decisions
RTI should be used for making decisions about general, compensatory, and special education, creating a well-integrated and seamless system of instruction and intervention guided by child outcome data. An RTI process cannot be used to delay or deny an evaluation for eligibility under IDEA.
