Last week's Young Creatives Campus made it clear we don't just have musical artists in this community, but pumpkin painting artists, too! 🎃

Thanks to everyone who joined us for a spooky fun time.

Young Creatives Campus is back this Thursday, October 15th from 7-9pm. Free and open to artists ages 18-26.

Stop by the Youth Media Studio to use the audio equipment, record, rehearse, collaborate, jam, check out the computer lab beatmaking software, or just hang out.

Not sure where to start? YOR staff will be there to answer questions, give tutorials, and support you!

It's your LAST CHANCE to visit Civic Center EATs this year!

Head to Civic Center Park one more time this fall for local food trucks, live music from emerging artists, and an afternoon outdoors.

And we've got two special acts (both current YOR Fellows!) next week: Mae Hunniford & The Peasantry!

Mae Hunniford brings together the best of the pop, rock and punk to create familiar, nostalgic music with her own unique twist. Powered by a sensational and energizing live performance that has been described as “a cataclysmic hurricane of musical expression”, combined with heartfelt, relatable songwriting, Mae is a can’t-miss artist.

Hailing from the mystical realm of Denver, Colorado, The Peasantry's unique brand of theatrical folk music delights and demands audience attention. Multifaceted and multi-instrumental, the duo sing in harmony over piano, mandolin, anvil, bicycle wheel, and anything else they can get their grubby little hands on. You don't get to see an act like this very often!

Denver, 16 LIVE is going out with a BANG 🪩

If you’ve joined us for 16 LIVE so far, you already know it’s ~ the vibe ~

But our final night will be even BIGGER. If you haven’t made it out yet, this is your chance.

Join us Thursday, October 15, for ¡Dale, Disco! A Reggaeton & Disco Dance Party. It’s a free, family-friendly night of music, dancing, costumes, and downtown party energy under the Quaking Gold Skynet at Glenarm Plaza.

5-6pm: Juggling and hula hooping instruction from Starry Nights Productions!

6-7pm: Dance with Perreo Queens + a special performance from MC Monica the Great

7-9pm: Miss Flowers vs. DJ FINE$$A in a silent disco DJ battle

Costumes are encouraged (Halloween fits absolutely count!). Bring your crew, bring your best moves, and help us close out 16 LIVE in style.

Register today for the next session of Creative Enrichment Classes!

This session runs Oct 26th - Dec 10th, with classes meeting once a week after school at the Youth Media Studio. All classes are 100% free to participants!

Beatmaking 101: Mondays
Middle School: 4:30 - 5:40pm
High School: 5:45 - 6:55pm

Beatmaking 102: Tuesdays
Middle School: 4:30 - 5:40pm
High School: 5:45 - 6:55pm

Alternative Band: Rock Jam
Middle School: Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30pm
High School: Thursdays, 4:30-6:30pm

Songwriting
Middle + High School: Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30pm

Plus a new offering beginning Friday, November 13th: Office Hours!

Join YOR's Caleb Tardio (guitarist from Denver bands like Anthony Ruptak, Holographic American, I Sank Molly Brown, and formerly the keyboardist from death metal supergroup Nightwraith) in an interactive conversation about musical technique, technology, and theory.

Come learn, ask questions, and play every Second Friday from 4:30-6:30pm. For artists of all ages.

Appreciation post for the YOR teaching artists and music and media arts educators 💛

In (slightly belated) honor of World Teacher Day, we want to shout out the incredible educators that bring our programs to life and support young artists in their creative journeys.

Through middle school summer camps, after school creative enrichment classes, podcast camps, and field trips, these dedicated music and media arts educators are sharing their knowledge, skills, and encouragement with the next generation of creatives.

They know it isn’t just about providing the tools, but welcoming young people into a creative community and helping them see creative passions as valid careers and pursuits.

We're stoked for this special hybrid event - part *free* concert featuring incredible local artists, part open mic ALSO featuring incredible artists!

Event Details:
- Open Mic performances from 5-6:30pm (all ages welcome!). Sign ups start at 4pm.
- Performance from CONRAD MATA!
- Performance from 2MX2!

This event is free and open to the public. Just like our usual Open Mics, we'll have food, soft drinks, and giveaways.

Celebrate spooky season with us at YCC! 🎃👻

Thursday, October 8th from 7-8pm, join the Young Creatives Campus crew to paint pumpkins and be in creative community together (snacks and supplies provided!).

Then, use the YOR studio for your creative projects on the 8th and 15th! Young artists (ages 18-26) get full access to our space, equipment, and expertise.

Use the instruments for a rehearsal. Use the iso booth and control room to capture vocals. Use the computer lab to work on Ableton. Or just jam, DJ, and meet fellow artists.

And it's all free! See you there.
