On a recent plane trip, as we were all disembarking, I walked past a mother and a child still seated. They were reading Blueberries for Sal.
I said, “Blueberries for Sal! I love that book. I remember my mother reading it to me.”
Mother and child both looked up. The mother smiled and said, “She wanted to hear the story just one more time. How could I refuse?”
“You couldn’t,” I said. “Thank goodness you didn’t.”
To everyone who reads a book aloud to a child “just one more time”—thank goodness for you.

And most of all...
keep it simple 💛

When I say nature walks, I really just mean spending time with nature. Perhaps you’ll play and not walk far at all, perhaps you’ll study and observe, or collect and gather, or just run and jump and skip about...or splash in a puddle for the whole entire time...😜💦💦

When I say nature walk, I really just mean simply spending time with nature outside.

What do you get up to on your nature walks?

The Spruce School's preschool program is designed to honor childhood while building a strong foundation for learning. Our small group size allows each individual child to shine. Learn more about how our play-based philosophy informs our approach on our blog.

Is Spruce a fit for your family? We are enrolling kids ages 3-5 today!

We reject the “academic pushdown” that holds young children to developmentally inappropriate expectations, while fostering a love of learning that can lead to surpassing those academics standards anyway.
