Memorial Day: Honoring Asian American Heroes

On this Memorial Day, we remember all who gave their lives in service to the United States โ€” including the many Asian American service members who have stood with courage and commitment across generations.

Let us never forget their legacy:

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Private First Class Sadao Munemori โ€“ A Japanese American who served with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in WWII. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his heroism in Italy, saving his squad at the cost of his own life.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Corporal Joseph Pierce โ€“ A Chinese American who fought in the Civil War for the Union Army. His service is a reminder that Asian Americans have been part of our history since its earliest battles.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Captain Francis B. Wai โ€“ A Native Hawaiian of Chinese descent who served in WWII. He became the first Asian American officer to receive the Medal of Honor for heroic leadership during the Leyte landings in the Philippines.

Their stories reflect bravery, sacrifice, and a deep belief in the ideals of this nation.

Today, we honor all who served and gave everything โ€” and we remember the Asian American heroes whose stories must continue to be told. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
