We were in our local supermarket a few days ago, Fearne who’s been suffering with her recurrent stomach issues was uncomfortable in her buggy and struggling with dystonic limb spasms and was writhing a bit. She often enjoys being in a supermarkets, something about the environment calms her down. In this instance she wasn’t relaxing so we’d separated from Big Sis to speed things up. As we were making our way round, two girls of a similar age to Fearne’s sister, so 10ish, noticed Fearne and started sharing glances and smirking at Fearne’s appearance. I was equally angry and upset, the only saving grace was that Big Sis didn’t witness it. I’m used to her being stared at and have perfected a big smile or a stare right back but this just seemed so mean. They were just kids but where does the lack of acceptance come from? The world can feel so cruel
