Thank you Soma Massage Therapy for sponsoring a school supply drive for us!

School is OUT, which means it’s time to bring the school supplies IN! Soma will be accepting school supply donations for Fred Moore Day Nursery School for our Summer Massage For A Cause! The school supply drive is happening at Soma this year! Because it’s also a day nursery, their needs look a little different. Specifically, here’s what we can accept for them:

🎒Did you notice an extra thing on the list in the picture? That’s because we’re accepting donations outside of Fred Moore Day Nursery, too! Soma will also be accepting donations of new or gently used back packs & other sealed school supplies all Summer long.

This means our Spring Massage For A Cause is over, which means we won’t be accepting pet donations anymore. Don’t sweat it if you missed your chance to donate though us! You can always take any of those supplies up to the Linda McNatt animal shelter directly.

Tonight the Fred Moore Day Nursery School Inc. team celebrated earning a 4-star rating certification with Texas Rising Star. Months of hard work and dedication have gone into preparing for the evaluation. We are honored for the opportunity to continue the long-standing tradition at FMDNS of providing the highest quality of care while shaping the minds of young children. 💚

Spotlight on Staff:
This week we want to spotlight 3 of our Lead staff who are participating in the Texas School Ready Comprehensive program.

What is Texas School Ready (TSR)?
Texas School Ready is an innovative, research‐proven early education approach that combines a research‐based, state‐adopted curriculum with professional development and coaching for preschool teachers. Throughout the year, TSR teachers will be provided tools to help them learn more about each child's specific instructional needs and how to support him or her using engaging lessons and activities. Through TSR, teachers improve their skills by getting feedback from our dedicated TSR coaches using video recordings of lessons and activities and receiving remote or face to face coaching. Multiple research studies have confirmed that Texas School Ready positively impacts teacher instructional practices in the classroom, regardless of setting (public school pre-K, Head Start, and private child care classrooms). Teachers participating in TSR Comprehensive are more responsive to the individual needs of the children in their classrooms. They show increases in their use of language-building strategies, including the quality of book reading, general conversations with children, and the use of oral language instruction to build these skills. Even greater gains have been found in emergent literacy instructional practices. Teachers also show better responsive teaching practices, organization of their centers, and the use of lesson plans. Ms. Jaleesa joined TSR in August 2023. Ms. Fran and Ms. Tia joined in January 2024. Because of the amount of time our staff dedicate to the additional training and meetings required of TSR participants, only a few can be enrolled simultaneously. When teachers join TSR, they are making a 3-year commitment to growing in their profession. Ms. Jaleesa, Ms. Fran, and Ms. Tia have varied degrees of experience, and all have found joining the TSR program to be beneficial to their unique professional goals.

We are so proud of Ms. Jaleesa, Ms. Fran, and Ms. Tia’s desire to enhance their own teaching skills and their dedication to bettering their classroom environments!

Today, Fred Moore High School students who participate in Impact Club visited our campus to share books with us! Reading to young children increases their language development and emergent reading skills. Thank you for helping us instill a love of reading in our children!

Fred Moore High School hosted a special Trunk-or-Treat event just for our kiddos! The event was inspired by our relationship with Fred Moore High School's Impact Club - a group of students who focus on ways they can give back to the community. The staff and students of FMHS went all out, dressing in costumes, decorating their trunks, passing out goodies and engaging with the children through games, reading and music. We are already looking forward to next year's event!

This week all of our age groups learned about pumpkins by exploring them using their senses of touch, taste and smell!

We are having a great time seeing families of Fred Moore Day Nursery School Inc. out here at National Night Out at Fred Moore Park! There is still time to come see us until 9pm! Free food, refreshments and a bounce house and best of all Beth Marie's Ice Cream Free junior scoop coupons from our table!

Today is National Custodian Day and we can't say enough about our sweet, wonderful Miss Violeta!! She is an invaluable member of the FMDNS community. (She's camera shy so we shared the appreciation she was shown by us instead 😊)
