Playing games like BINGO for phonics seems fun on the surface, but it’s actually teaching students visual matching, sequencing, sound to letter association, and sustained reading! When students act as BINGO callers, it gives them a sense of independence and responsibility as well as gets them to read for at least 10 continuous minutes without breaking a sweat. I always have to keep my Advance Program students on their toes! Student that have tested into the Advanced Program receive instruction that goes above and beyond their current grade standards to challenge them and get them ready for the coming year. The Advanced Program creates students that have highly developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills that sets them up for success in upper grades and college preparation. If your child is gifted or shows an aptitude for understanding advanced concepts and needs the extra academic input, contact me today for more information! Only available for grades 4th and up.

The writing section can really make or break your score! It’s only 10 points, but it can drop your student to “Did Not Meet”. This student didn’t pass their English 1 STAAR because of the writing section, so we’ve been workshopping ECR (extended constructed response) tricks and strategies. His writing has gone from 0 points to 10 points, making for an easy pass on his retake.
