During his young adulthood, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe struggled with alcohol addiction. Alcohol completely took over his life. When reflecting on that time, he said, “I became too dependent on [alcohol] to enjoy anything.” In 2010, he decided that enough was enough; he wanted to regain control of his life. He embarked on his recovery journey, and after some ups and downs, he has maintained continuous recovery since 2012.
Daniel's story reminds us of two things: 1) we're never too young to take control of our relationship with substances; and 2) it's possible to get back on track after a reoccurence of use. When celebrities like Daniel Radcliffe tell their stories and express pride in recovery, it helps amplify the message of recovery. Thank you for your openness, Daniel!
