Hey folks! Our pup Ari took off from his new home over at the Koan School off Fishtrap Rd last night. Likely he was spooked by NYE fireworks.
Fishtrap rd is just outside of loop 288 and Denton city limits, runs between mingo rd and 380.
Please share far and wide.
If found reach me at 817.371.2278 or call the Koan School.
Thanks!

Got my helpers! Almost 2 weeks in and still planting bit by bit. In the old days we would’ve had this little 40x45 bed planted in a jiffy. Patience, they say.

My new digs, y’all. Koan School is super generous to allow me to use their space. Tomorrow we plant.

When Dan and I were running the farm together I had lots of time to focus on the education component. Also, I just had lots of time to do nothing but pursue the farm project (in other words: no mortgage and no kids!). My students, educators, and I had the most magical, most uninhibited times on the farm. There were after school programs, summer camps, and BIG groups of school groups for farm tours. In hindsight, I think it's absurd that I pulled off such productions-- and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.

Sorry to those following along on the retrospective, I fell off the bandwagon last week with full concentration on these two things 👇🏼That is: work and mothering a newborn and toddler. On Wednesday of last week I visited a couple of farms as the manager of the Coppell Farmer's Market This photograph is EXTRA special. Me and Cardo (and Olivia). I've come full circle-- once working for him, then leasing land from him, and now vetting his product and listening as he tells the current story of the land I've known so well. I'm just happy that I still get to see him every week! P.S. Cardo is new to social media!! Cardo's Sprout Farm

This barn. I had a vision to turn Cardo's old barn into an educational space and to do it we used funds earned from the kickstarter campaign. The barn became a hub for community building and learning-- lots of workshops and summer camp festivities. It was also the only kitchen on the property and those of us who lived there, along with the volunteers who came to work, spent lots of time around the table sharing meals.

These are some great images of a typical harvest day at the Ponder location. Lots of volunteers always and sometimes a photography student like present to capture the moments.

I love this moment captured between Dan and Rachel. Totally accurate depiction of Rachel's role on the farm-- lots of smiles. She came to us in 2012 and has never left my side! Now we're both market managers, gardeners, and educators. Photo by

"Two Gritty Young Farmers and Their Vision" was the title given to our summer 2012 Edible Magazine feature. I most love this article for the photograph it produced of Dan and I. We met and worked together as interns on a veggie farm in Beacon,NY before starting our own farm project. His two year term was short but critical to the farm's strong foundation. Together we grew so many veggies and farm educated like crazy!

Another photo of the 2012 Brunch in the Fields fundraiser. This took place at our original location, land I leased from Rick "Cardo" in Ponder, TX. You can find microgreens and veggies still grown there by Cardo himself at farmers markets all over DFW, the Cupboard and of course at Check out Sheena's Instagram feed to see more pictures of the farm and event.
