During tonight’s weekly NASA meeting, we learned about the 7 clans of the Cherokee people. The clans include Bird, (Blue) Bear, (Red) paint, Long Hair, Wolf, Wild Potato, and Deer clan. Our members discussed the Cherokee clans and some of our NASA members own family history in the clans. Stay tuned for more presentations coming up in March.

Tonight we had our yearly post Indigenous Peoples day celebration potluck and a pumpkin painting session. Our members enjoyed the evening spending time with one another and putting our creativity to the test 🎃

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!!! UNT NASA spent this afternoon celebrating the day with other groups in the DFW area. We were able to ride in the starlight parade at the State Fair of Texas.

Come and join us for the 6th annual Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration at UNT, Wednesday October 15th on Sage Lawn from 11am-2pm. Come and learn about Native topics while enjoying some delicious food: three sisters stew, cornbread, and wojapi. There will be a performance by the Anoli Dance Troupe from 12pm-1pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tonight’s meeting included a medicine wheel presentation from our president Liz Knoll and a painting session of the medicine wheel. Thank you for everyone who showed up and made our meeting great! Our next meeting will be on September 22nd in Willis Library in room 250c at 5:30pm
