Reposting from summeratjoffrey Instagram: Following Thursday night’s culminating performance, we are reflecting on the many artists whose guidance, expertise, and dedication shaped the NYC Ballet summer Intensive. Among the exceptional faculty who shared their knowledge with our dancers was guest artist Eldar Valiev, whose distinguished career as both a principal dancer and educator brought a wealth of experience and artistry into the studio.
A graduate of the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg, Russia, Eldar went on to perform leading roles with companies including the State Theater of Opera and Ballet of Bashkortostan, Eifman Ballet Theater, and Icelandic National Ballet. Throughout his career, he danced principal roles in classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Don Quixote, Coppelia, and The Nutcracker performing alongside internationally celebrated artists across Europe and beyond.
Drawing on more than two decades as a professional dancer and over fifteen years as a ballet master and director, Eldar shared invaluable insight into the artistry, discipline, and traditions of classical ballet. We are grateful to Eldar and to every member of our faculty who guided, challenged, and inspired our dancers throughout this meaningful summer experience.
