Meet Ms. Smithers!

Another new addition to our front office staff, Ms. Smithers is our full-time student Counselor with 19 years of experience in education, inspired by the amazing educators who supported her throughout her own school years, especially her high school counselor.

Originally from California and Nevada, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education from Florida State University and a Master of Education in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Counseling from Texas A&M University. She is passionate about being a positive influence and believes in the simple philosophy of “just being a nice human.”

Outside of school, Ms. Smithers enjoys gardening, sewing, watching her daughters cheer and compete in athletics, college football, and spending time with family and friends.

Meet Ms. Trahan!

Delia Trahan joins our front office as our new College and Career Counselor with 22 years of experience in education, having worked with students at every level from Pre-K through college. Originally from Beaumont, Texas, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and her master’s degree from Lamar University.

Before becoming a counselor, Delia was a middle school teacher and coach, where she developed a passion for building strong relationships with students and families outside the traditional classroom. She helped establish the Collegiate Academy in Lewisville ISD, supporting students not only in earning college credit and associate degrees but also in developing the organization, communication, and time-management skills needed for success beyond high school.

Outside of school, Delia enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, arts and crafts, watching The Office, and true crime documentaries, and she is especially excited to help LaGrone students discover their passions and find a path toward their future goals.

Meet the Teacher... Cosmo style! We just realized, we've never introduced our amazing instructors, the masterminds behind the curtain! With the school year starting next Thursday, August 13th, what better time?!

Ms. Journie Younger (featured center) is our very own cosmetology program alumni, graduating in 2018 with her license from DentonISD. Ms. Journie teaches our intro sophomore class all of the basics of the industry. She is passionate about everything hair, and is our resident green thumb! 🪻

Ms. Olivia Gonzales (on the right), our industry veteran, is a dual licensed cosmetologist and barber. Ms. Olivia teaches our junior level class everything there is so know about haircutting and nails, and so much more! She loves everything about cutting hair, and anything pink! 💗

Ms. Annie Teague (left) is the senior level teacher, and another DentonISD alumni, graduating in 2007. All those pretty haircolor pictures we post... that's Ms. Annie's specialty! She loves her ducks, and everything Halloween! 🎃

We are so excited for the upcoming year, we have so many fun things planned for our students! Stay tuned for the salon opening and schedule changes!
