Cornerstone Cooperative Preschool is a play-based, parent-powered preschool in Denton, TX—where caring teachers and engaged families work together to help little learners grow. 🌈 For 50 years, Cornerstone teachers and parents have worked hand-in-hand to provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate program that recognizes the importance of creative play in the lives of children. The school’s one-of-a-kind environment respects each child and family as a unique and valuable part of the community, nurturing not only future social, emotional, and intellectual development of each individual child, but larger family and community relationships as well.

Here’s our fundraising update for North Texas Giving Day (early giving)! We’re getting SO close!

We’ve raised $4,140 toward our $10,000 goal and that total already includes matching funds! If we can raise just $2,930 more in donations, we’ll unlock the full $5,000 match and reach our $10,000 fundraising goal! Wouldn’t that be amazing?! Because this little school is so much more than a preschool. For more than 50 years, Cornerstone has been a place where families find community and parents have a hand in creating the kind of preschool experience they want for their children.

We’re a non-profit cooperative preschool, which means we’re not here to make a profit. We’re here for the children and families we serve.

Our cooperative model which is powered by parents volunteering their time, serving on our board, helping in classrooms, fundraising, maintaining our building, and pitching in wherever we’re needed helps us keep tuition as affordable as possible while providing a wonderful preschool experience.

First day at Cornerstone! 🌈

Our first day of school was full of big feelings and plenty of sweet moments. And while there were definitely a few tears at drop-off, they didn’t last too long! Before we knew it, our kiddos were getting into the swing of things, exploring their classrooms, playing with friends, and settling into their new routines. 🥹

And can we talk about this incredible photo bench?! 🍎 One of our longtime Cornerstone parents made this adorable setup for our school, and we are always so blown away by her talent! We feel so lucky to have such creative and generous families in our Cornerstone community. 💛

Here’s to a wonderful new school year! We’re SO excited for what’s ahead!

What a magical Meet the Teacher day! 🌈

Our little ol’ schoolhouse was filled with so many familiar and new faces as we gathered for yesterday’s meet the teacher! Our families also got to take a family photo with Rita | DFW Newborn Photographer (a past Cornerstone alumni), sign up for an Adopt-A-Spot around our school and, of course, let the kiddos play and explore! 🐛🌻

There’s nothing quite like seeing our happy school come alive! We are SO excited for what this year will bring and we are so glad you’re here!

Ever wondered who keeps this little cooperative preschool humming along?

It’s the Cornerstone parents! 🌈

As a cooperative preschool, our school is guided each year by a ‘Parent Executive Board’ made up entirely of volunteer parents. These parents work alongside our Director to help make decisions, support our teachers, plan events, manage the behind-the-scenes details, and quite literally help keep Cornerstone running.

Our Board has roles for all kinds of talents:

⭐️ President
✏️ Secretary
💰 Income & Expense Treasurers
🎉 Fundraising Coordinator
📣 Marketing Coordinator (that’s me!)
🤝 Membership Coordinator
🔨 Building Manager
🙋‍♀️ Volunteer Coordinator (they help setup our Parent Helper calendar)

And here’s the really special part: these aren’t paid positions. They’re parents volunteering their time because they believe in this school and want to help shape the community their children are growing up in.

That’s the heart of a cooperative preschool. It creates a sense of ownership and community that is difficult to replicate in a traditional school setting.

So, at Cornerstone Cooperative Preschool, it really does take a village…and we’re pretty lucky to have ours! 🩵

Yesterday, our Cornerstone families had the sweetest morning together at littlelightplayhouse in Pilot Point!

While the children explored the adorable playhouses and let their imaginations run wild, the grown ups enjoyed a comfortable space to visit. (Can we hear it for the air conditioning?)

One of the things we love most about our cooperative preschool is that our community doesn’t stop when the school year does. Even though classes are out for a few more weeks, our amazing volunteer Special Events Coordinator continues planning opportunities for our families to gather! 💛

We're feeling incredibly grateful for our Cornerstone community…we are excited to share that nearly all of our classes for the 2026–2027 school year are now full! The ONLY remaining openings are a few spots in our Tuesday/Thursday Pre-K class (for ages 3 ½ to 5) at this time.

We are truly overwhelmed by the interest and support from so many wonderful families. Thank you for considering Cornerstone Cooperative Preschool as part of your child's early learning journey!
