DMA SAXOPHONIST GRADUATE PUBLISHED: Cehuai Zhang, (DMA ’23) has first journal article published—"Translating Cultural Symbols into Sound: The Creation and Transformation of the 'Mantra Chord' in Zou Xiangping’s Images of Yalong River for Alto Saxophone and Piano." It is has been published in "Gamut: Online Journal of the Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic."

JAZZ FACULTY PERFORMS IN TAIWAN: Vocal Jazz faculty and University of North Texas alumna Rosana Eckert, (BM ’95, MM ’99), has been invited to Taiwan for a multi-city concert tour beginning August 6 and will one of two guest instructors for the Vocal Asia Festival, one of Asia's largest international vocal music festivals. The festival brings together leading vocal artists from across Asia and beyond for concerts, workshops, and masterclasses celebrating contemporary, A Ca****la, vocal jazz, pop choirs and traditional choral music. TWO FACULTY PUBLISHED: Bradley Beckman, (MMus '89, DMA '94) assistant professor of piano pedagogy and group piano coordinator, and Debbie Rohwer, Regents Professor of music education and incoming Chair of the Division of Conducting & Ensembles, have been published in Texas Music Education Research.

Their articles are "A Content Analysis of Piano Pedagogy Articles in the Music Teachers National Association E-Journal, 2009-2024," by Debbie Rohwer and Bradley Beckman, and "Using University Data Platforms to Inform Undergraduate Music Student Retention Pathways," by Debbie Rohwer.

ALUMNA RECEIVES AAUW AWARD: A University of North Texas UNT Division of Vocal Studies graduate has been honored by the American Association of University Women AAUW. Anna Valcour (MM ’16) received AAUW’s American Doctoral Fellowship and the Philanthropic Educational Organization Scholar Award with P.E.O. International.
