Toni Morrison, who passed away earlier this week, left behind a legacy of stunning literary works including her only book of poetry, Five Poems (Rainmaker Editions, 2002), with illustrations by Kara Walker. You can view pages from the work online at MoMA.

Last week we presented our partnership with Denton ISD and led a Design Thinking workshop at the CEDFA Fine Arts Summit in Austin. Participants used empathy, ideation, iteration, and collaboration to design unique "backpack" prototypes for student personas.

Last week the Onstead Inistitute helped lead the Environmental Explorers Summers Camp. What an incredible week! Students used art and philosophy to explore questions about our environment. Here students were taking a break during a hike to think about turtle conservation and to paint from the perspective of a box turtle.

Local middle school students sketched and embroidered their own unique designs with us this past week. This activity is a part of our Wandering Wardrobe project which brings historical garments (like this 1780's court coat!) from the Texas Fashion Collection to K-12 students. Stay tuned!
