GAC studio member Natalie Zeles has advanced to the Semifinals of the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition at the national convention in Portland, Oregon. Natalie was selected as one of six semifinalists out of 15 nationally chosen quarterfinalists. BRAVO, Natalie!!

Natalie will perform LAST at the 12:00 noon event tomorrow, (2:50 pm) Friday, August 7th, room C120-122. (See below). Please come out and support all of these outstanding six players.

Bravo, DMA studio member Jessie Wu, who will be performing at the NFA National convention as a winner of the Baroque flute Masterclass competition!

Congratulations Grant, MM studio alum, appointed full time Assistant Professor of Flute at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas. Bravo Kristin!!!

Excited to have you with us, Kristin!

"Kristin Grant is a flutist, conductor, and teacher from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Her recent teaching appointments include Southern Arkansas University, and the Arkansas School for Math, Sciences, and the Arts. An active chamber musician, she performs with the Trescendo Trio, South Winds, and the Mockingbird Flute Quartet. She also performs with The Muses Creative Artistry Project, based in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and conducts the Hot Springs Flute Ensemble.
Ms. Grant received a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of North Texas, where she studied with Terri Sundberg, and a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Arizona, where she studied with Jean-Louis Kashy. A former Ouachita faculty member from 2002-2018, she is delighted to return to the Ouachita School of Performing Arts."

FLUTE GRADUATE TO THE MOORES SCHOOL: Julee Kim Walker (DMA ‘13) has been appointed to the faculty of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston as Professor of Practice in flute. Dr. Walker’s appointment begins Fall 2026.

Congratulations to studio alum flutist Dr. Martin Godoy, who won 1st Prize and $3500 in the 2026 Sphinx Orchestral Partners Auditions (SOPA) held in Detroit Orchestra Hall. Wow!! Bravo, Martin!!
