For UNT's 125th Homecoming, the men of Pi Kappa Alpha along with the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha and the men of Delta Sigma Phi opted out of building a float. Our chapters found that the time and money spent pomping and putting together the float does nothing to benefit the community, as it all goes to waste when it's all said and done. Instead, we are focusing our efforts on the Eureka 2 project in Denton. Eureka Park is being torn down due to high arsenic levels, and it's being rebuilt and repurposed as a fully handicap-accesible playground for kids with special needs. This is a community project, and we felt it would be a great option to provide a lasting impact in the Denton community. We used our Homecoming budgets to donate $3,750 for new playground equipment, and we have pledged 820 community service hours for the build days in November. We are so happy with our decision, and excited to watch this project come to life! For more information on the Eureka 2 project, visit www.eureka2playground.com.
