Research breakthroughs don't happen in isolation. They rely on the infrastructure that makes discovery possible.

Thanks to a $250,000 National Institutes of Health Shared Instrumentation Grant, researchers at the UNT College of Engineering will soon have access to a new high performance computing cluster powered by eight NVIDIA H200 GPUs.

Led by Dr. Mahdi Pedram, the multidisciplinary proposal secured funding for a system that will expand AI driven research across wearable technology, biomedical engineering, computer vision, healthcare, large language models, data engineering and other data intensive fields.

The new computing resources will help researchers process massive datasets, develop more sophisticated AI models and accelerate innovation in areas that have the potential to improve healthcare and technology. Just as importantly, the cluster will provide undergraduate and graduate students with hands on experience using advanced computing infrastructure for coursework, research and real world problem solving.

Investments like these do more than strengthen research. They equip the next generation of engineers and computer scientists with the tools they'll use to shape the future.
