Empathy is often the first step toward ACTION. πŸ’™
In the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), students learn to understand and care about the feelings, experiences, and needs of others. When students develop empathy, they are more likely to take meaningful action that creates positive change.
Action may look like:
🌱 Caring for plants or animals
🀝 Including others during play
🧹 Helping take care of shared spaces
😊 Using kind and respectful words
πŸ’™ Supporting friends and family members
These everyday choices help students develop responsibility, compassion, collaboration, and strong relationships with others.
TEKS connections across grade levels include:
βœ” Communication skills
βœ” Responsible decision-making
βœ” Collaboration
βœ” Social and emotional development
Every positive choice matters, and even small actions can make a big difference!

β˜€οΈπŸŒŽ Summer of Action at Newton Rayzor Elementary! πŸŒŽβ˜€οΈ
At Newton Rayzor Elementary, learning doesn’t stop when the school year ends!
This summer, we're excited to launch our Summer of Action series, highlighting an important part of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP): ACTION.
In IB, action happens when students use their learning to make a positive difference in the world around themβ€”at home, in their community, and beyond. Action can be big or small, individual or collaborative, visible or quiet. Whether students are helping a neighbor, conserving resources, advocating for a cause, participating in community service, or making thoughtful choices about how they live and consume, every action has the potential to create positive change.
When students take action, they become:
⭐ Thinkers
⭐ Caring friends
⭐ Reflective learners
⭐ Principled leaders
Throughout the summer, we'll be sharing ideas, challenges, community opportunities, and examples of the many different forms of action students can take. Our goal is to help students see that they don't have to wait until they are older to make a differenceβ€”their choices, voices, and actions matter right now.
Join us this summer as we explore how learning can inspire action and how action can help build a stronger, more caring, and more sustainable community.
β˜€οΈ Welcome to our Summer of Action!

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Solano as she begins an exciting new chapter!

At the end of this school year, Dr. Solano will be leaving Newton Rayzor after accepting a new position as a Bilingual/ESL Coordinator with Denton ISD. While we are incredibly sad to see her go, we are also so happy for her and proud of this well-deserved opportunity.

Dr. Solano has made a lasting impact on our students, staff, and families through her kindness, leadership, and dedication. She will be greatly missed by our school community, but we know she will continue to do amazing things in her new role.
