Can someone explain to me why travel teams have 4 hour practices now? Are you scrimmaging?
If you’re not scrimmaging then what on earth are you practicing for that long?
I just want to share signs of burn out vs loss of love for the game:
BURNOUT:
-not able to go as hard in practice/lessons due to fatigue
-fatigue sets in quicker than it has in past
-frequent injuries
-loss of previous joy because there hasn’t been mental breaks (playing 4+ weekends in a row can lead to this)
-show uncharacteristic irritation, frustration or anxiety before/after practices
LOSS OF LOVE:
-goes through the motions/lack of effort when well rested
-content with quitting
-never wants to practice
-after a long break from playing/practicing still doesn’t love to play
-has joy in other non-softball activities but not in softball

Lefty-Queen Zoe Gresham was named Lake Dallas HS Offensive POY!! 🌟💣
Zoe has worked with Coach Jen since 2023. She started out slapping and has progressed into a power hitter - hitting her first home run last year. Zoe is also working on her bunt and chopping skills.
Zoe, you’ve come SUCH a long way in the last few years. You’re a fierce competitor and always competing against yourself. I’ve watched you blossom into a kid that now is passing on what you’ve learned to your teammates, which is so encouraging to me as a coach.
Keep shining bright kiddo! Can’t wait to see what you do 🌟
Zoe is Uncommitted 2027 LHH/LS OF.

Coach Jen cheered on UNT Softball against Wichita State last Saturday, and cheered on Aeryn Shuman who plays for WSU!
Jen has worked with Aeryn since her sophomore year of HS. Aeryn hit three HRs in the series against UNT and has proved herself to be a dominant force behind the plate. Go Aeryn!! 💛🖤
