As we wrap up summer and transition into our fall schedule, I want to pause and give a huge shoutout to an incredible summer intern from Babson College, Nicole Bisono.

Nicole didn’t just complete the tasks she was assigned; she went looking for ways to add value. She took on administrative work and ran with it, helping transform our operating systems and creating smart design solutions for our badge reclassification project. She collaborated seamlessly across every department, regardless of role or position, and consistently brought both openness to guidance and thoughtful, constructive feedback to the table.

Nicole is a proud Lawrence resident, a junior, and a full-ride scholarship recipient at Babson College. Even though this was an unpaid internship, we made it our mission to equip her with real, transferable experience and set her up for continued success.

Wishing you an incredible academic year—go make us proud!

Today, we embraced the beauty of teamwork during our professional development session! Just before the rain hit, we activated our courtyard, preparing it for a vibrant summer filled with community engagement.

We took this opportunity to collaborate on our summer reading theme, fostering a spirit of camaraderie as everyone came together, regardless of their roles in the library. It was truly inspiring to see our librarians stepping up, offering valuable training sessions for our staff about their departments. This initiative not only enhances our skills but also plays a crucial role in their performance evaluations.

The theme this year resonates deeply with me: it’s all about planting seeds for growth—not just in our individual journeys, but in the growth of our entire city.
