The Percussion Studio of John Apodaca was established in November of 2010 with the intention of offering in depth percussion education to people of all ages and levels throughout the areas of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Students of John Apodaca receive the benefit of studying with an instructor drawing on nearly three decades of experience working with and leading some of Texas' finest percussion programs.

There is a whole lot about this capture that makes me happy. A quick pic taken at last night’s opening game performance. Each student I have has a great individual story. Honestly, I think I could give lengthy TED Talks on each of them…their unique learning styles, hurdles cleared and mountains climbed, (humorous anecdotes), and personal trajectory for the next phase of growth. My Snare Line here is no exception to this. They are however, quite exceptional in their performance level, approach, and dedication to their drumming craft. Last night’s performance was a fun preview of how far they can develop as a section and as many of you out there like to say…”I’m here for it.” VApercussion…Drum Strong…Drum Real. 🤠👏🏼

Presenting…the 2026-27 Van Alstyne High School Drumline! Another great drumming ensemble hitting the field this Fall for audiences in North Texas! These fantastic young people are simply great people from some great families. The quality of character is simply amazing, and they are a good chunk of my drumming people. They take a great photo on picture day, don’t they?! Special note- first pic ever with our official uniform and new custom Dynasty Drums! Beautiful! School year starts on Wednesday! Van Alstyne Convocation 2026! Embarking on a year of education with an outstanding district of colleagues is a great feeling. Lots of super quality folks that do amazing work for the families of VA. So many new faces as our district continues to grow. So much energy. I’m very much looking forward to another year of drumming with my students and this wonderful community! 26-27 bout to launch! 🤠👏🏼

The power of great teachers and mentors. The Blue Devils’ Scott Johnson returns after being sidelined in June with a heart surgery. They’re gonna play extra good now! I love this video. Bravo, Scott Johnson. Godspeed. 🤠❤️👏🏼
