Huge congratulations to Scott Middle School Robotics Teacher, Mel Hander, for receiving a $21,000.00 grant from Texas Instruments! Our Denison ISD STEM Educator of the Year is receiving $10,000.00 for his project towards outdoor unmanned drones, or UAV’s. Mr. Hander says, “These would include drones that are designed for outdoor photography, videography, public safety, agriculture, recreation, delivery and transportation, as well as commercial, residential and industrial inspection. The purchase of these types of drones would give students experience with drones similar to what they would utilize once they earned their FFA Pilot’s License.”
In addition, Mr. Hander is also receiving $11,000.00 for professional development in STEM!
We are thrilled to announce that Texas Instruments has already approved funding for another Denison ISD STEM Educator of the Year for the 2027-2028 school year as well!

The Richards family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Denison Education Foundation. Donations made to Rhett's memorial fund will either be used towards a scholarship fund or a special memorial project.
