When you get hurt the world ends. All you feel, all you see is the pain standing in front of you. When it’s from a friend or a sibling or a spouse it is the absolute worse thing in existence. Often times I pray for justice, but that’s not what I want anymore. I mean think about it, when justice is served it’s usually the repayment of the wrong. But for me to have justice in the unilateral sense the other person would have to feel the same way I do. I don’t want anyone else to have to feel, pain, pain is awful and soul crushing. And you know what God doesn’t want that either. Sometimes he has to let it happen so he can get our attention, but inflicting pain is not his first response. What I’m going to start praying for is the increased ability to love. Love doesn’t keep a record of wrong, it doesn’t, it forgives, and lets go, it lets God handle it. The fact is forgiveness is not easy, it just isn’t. But God did not call us to live nice easy lives. Our God called us to fight a war against an enemy that uses words to tare us down to nothing. Part of fighting this war is using our words to let go and forgive others for speaking words that might not even have come from them, but from the enemy. Cause here’s the thing, if God could forgive the men who savagely beat his son to a pulp and then nail him to a piece of wood; if God truly loved and forgave them, then I know he called me to love and forgive those who hurt me. One of the most basic ingratiates of love is forgiveness. So I will forgive them because I love them, because my God loves and forgives me.
