The wait is overβ€”tomorrow marks the first day of school at Demopolis City Schools! We are excited to welcome our students back for an amazing year of learning, growth, and new opportunities.

We can’t wait to see our students tomorrow! Make sure to check out the previous post about drop off and pick up.

Also, here are some reminders and FYI’s:
-Students may have a clear, plastic bottle with a cap that closes.
*FAST FOOD CUPS, ENERGY DRINKS, SOFT DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED .

-Students must be picked up by 3:30 each day.

-If you did not pick up your student’s schedule, please utilize MySchoolBucks to pay fees. We will call students to the cafeteria after 7:35 to pick up schedules if they haven’t gotten one or had a schedule change.

The safety of our students is our top priority. Please read the following procedures carefully and help us by following them each day.
πŸŒ… Morning Drop-Off (7:15–7:35 AM)
🚫 The front loop is CLOSED each morning to ensure the safety of our students as they arrive on campus. Please use one of the designated drop-off locations below.
Students arriving before 7:35 AM must report to one of these locations:
🍽️ Cafeteria
All 6th grade students must report to the cafeteria.
6th graders are not required to eat breakfast.
Any 7th or 8th grade student who wants breakfast may also report to the cafeteria.
Breakfast is FREE for all students!
πŸ€ Gym
Only 7th and 8th grade students may report to the gym before school.
πŸš™ Morning Drop-Off Locations
πŸ“ Central Office Parking Lot
All students (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) may be dropped off here.
πŸ“ Whitfield Street
(The road between Gaineswood and Demopolis Middle School)
Only 7th and 8th grade students who will report to the gym may be dropped off here.
Students will enter through the side door of the gym.
🚫 Please DO NOT pull through the back loop.
This area is reserved for teachers, the special education bus, and parents of our self-contained students.
⏰ Students are considered tardy after 7:45 AM.
Tardy students must report to the front office to check in.
If a student does not have an acceptable excuse, the tardy will be recorded as unexcused.

Normal Pick-Up Locations
πŸš— 6th Grade: South Cherry Street
πŸš— 7th Grade: Central Office Parking Lot
πŸš— 8th Grade: Whitfield Street (behind the teacher parking lot)
β˜” Rainy Day Pick-Up
🌧️ 6th Grade: Normal pick-up location (the area is covered).
🌧️ 7th Grade: Front porch of the school.
🌧️ 8th Grade: Students will remain under the awnings behind the school. This is the ONLY time parents should pull through the back loop to pick up 8th grade students during dismissal.
⏰ Important Dismissal Reminder
Students who have not been picked up by 3:05 PM will be escorted to the front porch of the school.
After 3:05 PM, parents should pull through the front loop to pick up their child.
All students MUST be picked up no later than 3:30 PM.

As we get ready to welcome our students back to school on Friday, here are a few important reminders and FYIs:
πŸ’§ Water Bottles Needed
Our new water fountains are bottle-filling stations and do not have traditional drinking spouts. Please send your child with a clear plastic water bottle with a secure lid each day.
πŸš— Arrival & Dismissal
Morning drop-off begins at 7:15 AM; students are tardy after 7:45 and must check-in through the front office.
All students should be picked up by 3:30 PM.
Drop-off and pick-up procedures and locations will be posted before Friday. Please watch for that information.
πŸ“š After-School Tutoring
Tutoring will begin the week of August 24. An application form will be posted soon for families interested in participating.

To make things easier, we have created one Google Form that includes all of these required acknowledgments. This form is mandatory and must be completed for each DMS student. The link is provided below.

If you are unable to complete the form online, paper copies will be available in the DMS Front Office.

All schedule change requests will be reviewed; however, changes are not guaranteed. If your student's schedule is changed, the updated schedule may be picked up in the DMS Front Office on Wednesday.

After school tutoring will begin the week of August 24th. We will post a Google registration form on Facebook and will also have paper forms in the front office next week.

πŸ“… Schedule Pick-Up Times
Thursday, July 30
🐯 8th Grade: 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM
🐯 7th Grade: 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
🐯 6th Grade: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
🌭 6th grade families are invited to enjoy a complimentary hot dog meal provided by our Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent!
⏰ Please note: We will conclude promptly at 6:00 PM.
*Additional times:
July 31st from 11:30-1:30
August 3rd from 12:00-3:00

Please report directly to the DMS Cafeteria. You will see stations that are numbered, and our staff members will be there to guide you through the process.
βœ… FIRST STOP – REQUIRED
Everyone must stop at the first set of tables to complete the Emergency Information Sheet before moving to the next station.

If you have not completed Online Registration, you will be directed to the library to complete the process and upload your required documents.

Students will NOT receive their class schedule until Online Registration has been completed.
