🚲 Ride Smart. Ride Safe. VCS. 🔋

Students who plan to ride an e-bike or e-scooter to a VCS campus must complete the FREE Ride Smart VCS E-Ride Safety Course and receive a permit sticker for their device.

💻 The self-paced online course takes about 30 minutes and covers legal e-bikes and equipment, Florida laws, safe riding practices, crash prevention, and campus rules. Students must use their VCS email address to log in and complete the course.

📅 Important for families: Students riding at the start of the school year have until August 21 to complete the course. After August 21, students must have completed the course and obtained a permit sticker to ride an e-bike or e-scooter to campus.

🪖 Helmets matter: Florida law requires riders under age 16 to wear a helmet, and VCS strongly encourages every rider to wear one.

🔒 When arriving on campus, students must walk their device and park and lock it in the school's designated area. E-bikes and e-scooters may not be brought inside school buildings, classrooms, or hallways.

We had the pleasure of welcoming our amazing incoming students to Galaxy Middle. The excitement, smiles, and energy filled our campus as students took their first steps toward an unforgettable middle school journey!❤️

📚 The new school year is almost here, and now is the perfect time to make sure your student is ready for day one. ✏️

✅ Check that required immunizations are up to date.
✅ Submit any required health records to your child’s school.
✅ Schedule appointments now to avoid the back-to-school rush.

For incoming 7th grade students, remember that the Tdap vaccine is required before the first day of school.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting our first round of coffee chats with principals and Dr. Julio Valle Jr., Chief Academic Officer, Volusia County Schools, bringing together school leaders from across the district for meaningful conversations centered on leadership, innovation, and the success of our students.

These informal gatherings provide an opportunity to listen, learn, share ideas, celebrate successes, and strengthen the partnerships that help move our district forward. We are grateful for the incredible dedication our principals demonstrate every day in service to our students, staff, and families.
