These homeschool students were a huge help at the spay and neuter clinic this past weekend!! They are all interested in the animal husbandry field and helped set up kennels, weighed animals, clipped nails, and cleaned up after animals. They also got to watch surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping, and ask lots of questions! 🐾🐈🐶💕

Flying kites is a great experience for the young and the young at heart! Living in a town known for its wind gives kite flyers great lessons in aerodynamics...and also allows for the practice of patience!! 🪁😎

The Delta/Greely School District class of 2026 includes graduates from Gerstle River School, Delta High School, and Alaska Homeschool. So many memories and milestones to get to this day...so many more to come! Congratulations everyone!! 🙂

A huge congratulations to Gavin Smith who just committed to the Yorktown Admirals NCDC! Gavin is a homeschool student that plays hockey for DHS; our school district is super excited for him as he keeps pursuing his hockey dreams!! (Photo credit: Adrienne Lyons)

The Yorktown Admirals are excited to announce the commitment of forward Gavin Smith for the upcoming NCDC season. Smith joins the Admirals after a standout four‑year career at Delta High School, along with experience at both the AAA and AA levels.

Smith led the entire state in scoring this season with 68 points, including an incredible 51 goals and 17 assists, finishing first among 3A and 4A players. His dominant performance earned him Aurora Conference MVP honors and a spot on the State All‑Tournament Team.

Gavin will report to the Yorktown Admirals Junior Hockey program in August, bringing elite scoring ability, speed, and a proven competitive edge to the NCDC level.

The day before the big day! At DGSD it starts with the Graditude Walk; graduates walk through the elementary and junior high school, inspiring future graduates to keep up the effort until the day that they get to wear the cap and gown. After the walk it's the graduation practice...figuring out the routine of graduation, practicing the handshake, walking across the stage and "tassel, diploma, smile"! The finale of the day before graduation is a delicious lunch at the Drive-In!! Graduation is tomorrow at 6pm in the Big Gym at DHS! 🎓

Our field trip to Forestry is always a fan favorite!! A huge thanks to Officer Gabe Pease-Madore, Sam, Alex, and Kevin for teaching us about fire science, what we can do at our own homes to be firewise, and about the different career opportunities with Forestry! The kids were more than ready to try out the fire hose and a few would have piloted the helicopter if allowed!! 😁🌲🚁

A little late on this post...maybe our field trip to Chena Hot Springs was just that relaxing, lol. It always feels like Chena should be a monthly field trip during our winter months!! 🏊‍♂️😀
