We are proud to share one of our organization's true treasure, a vintage, handcrafted wooden racing boat estimated to be 40 to 50 years old. Crafted in Switzerland by the legendary artisans at Stämpfli, this masterpiece was once the boat of choice for elite rowers, world champions, and Olympic finalists.
We discovered this piece of art covered in dust at the San Diego Rowing Club. After a cross-country in a boat trailer from San Diego to Sarasota, she was brought on a car-top journey from Sarasota to Delray Beach. Now, she is back where she belongs: on the water of Lake Ida.
This boat connects us deeply to rowing heritage. Our founder, Rodrigo Banegas, recently took her out on Lake Idea. In a striking twist of fate, Rodrigo rowed a sister boat to this one back in the 1980s. That legendary sister vessel named Saint Catherine carried the iconic Alberto Demiddi to a World Championship in 1970 at Saint Catherine, Canada .
Demiddi's original boat is now beautifully preserved in the ballroom of Club de Regatas Rosario in Argentina). To row a boat like this requires someone who understands her temper, her history, her strength and fragility as well as her enduring desire to show her beauty on the water. We are honored to keep this legacy alive here at Delray Beach Rowing Club.
If anyone would like to meet her please contact us for a tour in the boat house. Warrantee you will fell in love with her

Sweat, Sacrifice, and Serving Those Who Served us. 🚣‍♂️✨
Today, the Delray Beach Rowing Club wants to share a story of true community spirit. We are sending a massive, heartfelt thank you to Mr. Diego Fuica and our incredible founder, Dr. Rodrigo Banegas.
True leaders don't just talk; they roll up their sleeves. Under a suffocating blanket of Florida heat and heavy humidity, these two extraordinary men poured their passion, time, and strength into our club.

Working side-by-side:
🌾 Diego painstakingly cleared and restored the dry side of our shore.
🌊 Rodrigo labored in the water to clear the launch area.

Why this matters so deeply?
Because of their selfless dedication, our rowers and most importantly, our cherished USA veterans; now have a safer, cleaner, and more dignified path to the water.
Right now, our athletes still practice "wet launching"—wading directly into the water to get into their boats while we work toward purchasing a proper rowing dock. Until that day comes, Diego and Rodrigo’s hard labor ensures our heroes can access the water safely.
Diego and Rodrigo: thank you for donating your time and your hearts to our family. You embody the very best of us. 🙌❤️💙

HOW YOU CAN HELP??

Let’s match their sweat with our support! Please consider making a donation to our fundraising campaign today. Every dollar brings us closer to purchasing a rowing dock, fixing the boat house, buying a coach’ launch and ensuring our veterans and rowers never have to struggle just to get into the water.

Inspiring Progress on the Water!Yesterday, the Delray Beach Rowing Club proudly hosted our third "Learn to Row" session dedicated to our incredible USA veterans.
There is nothing more fulfilling than watching these athletes progress. With every single stroke of the oar, their skills grow—matched only by the pure joy and camaraderie they share on Lake Ida.
Rowing is more than a sport; it is a connection to nature. Our veterans are thriving in the elements feeling the soothing sound of rhythmic water, the gentle touch of the lake breeze, the warmth of the Florida sun and the unbreakable bond between rowers and coaches.
We are also thrilled to announce that we are finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the VA and the Delray Beach Rowing Club. This official partnership will serve as the bedrock for our present programs and exciting future collaborations.
Thank you to our veterans for your service, your determination, and your inspiring spirits! 🇺🇸
