HISTORY & TRADITION

Divine Savior Academy is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), one of the largest private school systems in the United States. The WELS has a rich tradition of academic excellence and has operated high-regarded schools across the United States, the Caribbean, and the world for over 165 years. Divine Savior Academy was founded in Doral, Florida in 2004 and is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Accreditation International (AI), the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), and Middle States Accreditation (MSA-CESS). CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT

Christian education is Christ-centered education. Our Savior and His love for us are at the heart of all we think, say, and do. All subjects in our curriculum are taught from a distinctively Christian point of view, and all our activities are centered in a Christian environment. Divine Savior is a place where the Bible serves as the source of truth, and a love for God and His Word is nurtured in our precious children. At DSA, children grow in their relationship with the Lord on their journey toward Christian maturity. Divine Savior Academy is supported by Divine Savior Church. Our church pastors serve and support the families of Divine Savior with Bible classes, family counseling, and worship services within a loving, supportive community. COLLEGE-PREPARATORY ACADEMICS

Divine Savior Academy graduates have been accepted to many prestigious colleges and universities including Ivy League Cornell University, M.I.T., the University of California-Berkeley, Georgetown University, the University of Miami, and more. Divine Savior’s rich curriculum is designed with flexibility to meet the needs of each student as it fosters exploration, critical thinking, problem solving, and sound study habits. The ultimate goal is to cultivate and maximize each student’s unique talents and abilities.

As we explore Our Purpose this month, we’re reminding our students that they were created intentionally, and God has good things prepared for them to do.

Last week, Mrs. Coffee's 3rd grade students turned balloons into globes and labeled the continents and oceans as they explored how our world is organized. This hands-on project helped them put their geography knowledge into practice and gave them a colorful way to see what they’ve been learning!🌎🎈

Can you hear that? It’s the sound of reading confidence growing! 🤫👂 Our kindergarteners in Ms. Jensen’s class are using phoneme phones to whisper-read and amplify their phonics skills. By hearing their own voices directly, they can isolate, blend, and master tricky sounds all on their own. Learning to read has never sounded so good! 📚✨

Last week, 4th grade found out what civics, geography, economics, and history look like in real life! 🌎🔎 Each student brought in four items for Show & Tell; one to represent each area of social studies. From personal treasures to everyday objects, students got creative connecting what they’re learning in the classroom to the world around them!

Meet Diana, DSA - Doral class of '18! 🦈

✏️ Martin Luther College
📚 Education
📍 Miami
🤝 English Teacher

Diana’s DSA journey began in 3rd grade, and from the start, DSA became more than a place for learning. It was a safe haven. She bonded with teachers who always listened, encouraged her in God’s word, and helped her with genuine care. Diana immersed herself in music, taking voice and piano lessons, singing in choir, and exploring theatre. She was also a member of National Honor Society and participated in Bookworms, a reading program that helped young students gain a love for literature! It was a full and formative season, guided by teachers who saw her not as a number, but as a person worth investing in.

After high school, what started as a suggestion from a beloved teacher turned into a decision that put Diana on a path she never imagined for herself. She decided to attend Martin Luther College and pursue teaching. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in English, and along the way, participated in the Disney College Program, an experience that sharpened her adaptability and interpersonal skills.

Today, Diana has come full circle. She teaches Pre-AP English and freshman English at DSA, pouring into the next generation. The genuine care that defined her student years now flows through her from the other side of the desk! Outside of correcting, instructing, and the busy teacher life, Diana likes to scour Miami for the best matcha latte, spend time with friends and family, and sing in Divine Savior Church’s bilingual services.

Diana, we love seeing you pour into the next generation. Welcome back!

Meet Camila, DSA - Doral class of 2019! 🦈

✏️ University of Central Florida
📚 English & Studio Art
📍 Orlando
🤝 Event Technician

From 4th grade till high school graduation, Camila has always leaned into her creative side. She looks back fondly on her time at DSA, a place where her creativity was recognized and encouraged to grow. A personal turning point for her arrived in 10th grade, when art teacher Andrea Rodriguez helped expand the art program. Camila dove in, serving as a student assistant for the after-school art program as well as honing other skills through the yearbook club and a marketing internship with Divine Savior Ministries. These opportunities allowed her to tap into creative work in multiple mediums that have served her to this day.

After graduating, Camila attended the University of Central Florida, where she earned a degree in English and Studio Art. She felt prepared for the rigor of college coursework as DSA had instilled discipline around writing, research, and clear communication. Today, she works as an Event Technician with Encore, specializing in audio, visual, and lighting production. Still using her creative spirit, she works behind the scenes to bring stories to life, and she loves every minute of it. In addition to her AV specialty, Camila does freelance creative work, including multiple projects with her old internship stomping grounds, Divine Savior Ministries!

Life in Orlando suits Camila well. When she is not working an event or taking on a freelance project, she can be found staying active through rock climbing and playing pickleball. On the creative side, she runs a book club, draws, and continues to write.

Camila, we are so proud of the creative spirit and dedication you bring to everything you do!

Our DSA campuses are sharing this inspiring verse as their school theme this year: "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" - 1 John 3:1

Our students and staff will continue to see this verse throughout the school year as a reminder of God's great love for us. 💙
