Drew and Luke wrestling in Atlantic City. Drew won first 2 matches and will wrestle tomorrow morning in quarterfinals. Luke won his first one lost his second and will wrestle in WB2 tomorrow morning. Go Bears.

It is with great pride that we introduce to you former Delran High School Wrestler and newly commissioned US Coast Guard Ensign Philip Rogers - Phil graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy with High Honors with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was also a 2x Wrestling All-American and 4x Academic All-American - He is headed to Honolulu to serve on the USCGC Kimball as a Student Engineering Officer with the Main Propulsion Team

**** New Weight Classes ****
The NJISAA is sticking with 14 weight classes for boys wrestling, and adding one weight class for girls wrestling,

States were given the option choose between 12, 13 or 14 weight classes for both boys and girls competition, according to a release put out by the National Federation of State High School Associations last April.

The NJSIAA program review committee authored a proposal to adopt 14 weight classes for boys and 12 weight classes for girls, beginning this school year. The proposalwhich was approved at Wednesday's NJSIAA meeting.

These will be the new boys wrestling weight classes: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285.

While the number of weight classes are the same, the weights are shifted toward the middle weights, where there is the most participation, according to the proposal.

"The committee was not in favor of reducing the number of weight classes. Primarily because the majority of forfeits occur at the lowest and highest weight classes, these weight classes are the same in all of the NFHS approved frameworks," read the committee's proposal. "The director of the National Wrestling Coaches Association recommended that NJ move to the NFHS 14 weight class framework – it is their recommendation that the NFHS framework is best suited to serve NJSIAA’s student-athletes.

These will be the new girls wrestling weight classes: 100, 107, 114, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 165, 185, 235.

"By adding one additional weight class, there will be an increase in participation in the state tournament with minimal impact on the level of competition," read the committee's proposal. "Also, the NFHS 12 weight class framework is very close to the current 11 weight classes so there will be minimal impact on the girls that have competed in prior seasons."
