We had a very successful Tree Planting on Saturday, 4/30 at the SUNY Delhi Outdoor Education Center. David DeForest led a dozen volunteers through the proper procedure for planting trees to support conservation goals within the Catskill Watershed as part of a community service day on campus. Thank you to all our volunteers for their help!

A very interesting article by our colleague, Assistant Professor Barry Person. He goes into great detail on the potential career opportunities and growth in the Sports Management field, as well as the societal implications of recent current events and how they relate to sport. Check it out!

It is with a heavy heart, that we announce the passing of our former colleague and dear friend, Candi Russell. Candi was an amazing soul, full of energy and life who shared her love of physical activity and the outdoors with her many students over the years. Professor Russell was an enthusiastic hiker, biker, skier, kayaker, swimmer, and coach who taught her SUNY Delhi students with enthusiasm and her love of life. She also taught generations of kids in the Walton Community how to swim and lifeguard through her involvement as an American Red Cross instructor and coached various sports including tennis, basketball, softball, swimming, and field hockey. Candi's zest for life and energy made her a popular fixture on campus even after her retirement and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Those of us still teaching will continue to strive to exemplify the passion, commitment, enthusiasm, and love of life that Candi carried into the classroom everyday. The stories about her are legendary and they will sustain us during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved spending time with. May we all find comfort in the warm memories of her that bring a smile to our face. Please take a hike, paddle, or bike in her memory. Candi, you will be dearly missed and thank you for all you brought into our lives.

It is always a great day for Cross Country Skiing at SUNY Delhi! The students in PEDH 129: Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing had a fun time working on their skills on downhill trails and lots of laughs.

Students of the sports management operations class had the opportunity to tour both the athletic and recreational facilities at Colgate University. It was a great tour capped off by a 'gate women's hockey game. A big thank you to the Colgate Athletic and Recreation Departments for hosting us. A great experience!

This was a great event that the SUNY Delhi NRRS department was involved in.
To help kick off October as National Down Syndrome Awarenss Month, we wanted to share a selection of photos we took this past weekend at Pathfinder Village during our annual Biking Clinic with our friends from the EDD Memorial Fund.
We had a great contingent of volunteers from EDD and the SUNY Delhi Sports & Recreation Management Program, who gave some great tips on bike riding and safety throughout the morning. And through a special grant from the Otsego County Department of Health, participants were eligible to receive a free bike helmet ... win-win!
The day started off with everyone practicing skills on courses laid out at the Pathfinder School parking area; then everyone transitioned to the Pathfinder Bike Path behind the school to get in some distance work. We all enjoyed some pizza and visiting under Pavilion, and the day ended with medals for all the riders.
Our thanks go out to all the participants, volunteers, and our good friends at SUNY Delhi, EDD and from the community who made this worthwhile clinic a great success!
