Alex, DACC Wildlife class of 2026, (far left in picture) swore in this morning for the final time with the United States Marine Corps. He's currently on a bus headed to an airport that will take him to basic training for 13 weeks. He is the class of 2026's Most Improved Student. We're proud of him serving our country and wish him the best. Thank you, Alex!

Today Mrs. Rhea was presented the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award. This award was developed by Scouting America to recognize educators, administrators, and school districts that support the Scouting movement and incorporate the principles of the Scout Oath and Law into their curriculum and work with our future leaders.

Equipped with chest waders, shovels, and rakes, seniors were waist deep in the wetland this week adjusting the outlet's water control structure. Having a controlled release of outlet flow is an outstanding conservation practice... until ornery youth at camp completely close off the water flow during torrential downpours, causing unnecessary flooding. After removing boulders from the outlet's control structure and opening up the flow gates, the seniors were able to lower the wetland water level 25 inches in 48 hours. How many followers remember being ornery in their youth days?

Throwback Thursday to these graduates from the DACC Wildlife Class of 2024. This week Bella , Coy, Sage, and Sully were notified by the National FFA Organization that they have been approved to receive their American FFA Degree. Congratulations to them for their work in the industry, continuing their community service hours, and record keeping since graduation. We are excited to watch them receive their symbolic golden key when their American FFA Degree is bestowed upon them at the National FFA Convention this fall. Congratulations!!

Ranger Kurt at Camp Lazarus made a special opportunity for level II students today by showing the responsibilities involved in campground pool maintenance and management. Afterwards, students got to enjoy the pool. It's been countless days of rain so today's sunshine was a blessing.
