House In the Wood operates a co-ed residential SUMMER CAMP for children ages 7-16 and an OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER for grades third through twelfth in Spring, Winter and Fall.

We're kicking off a new season of Outdoor Ed here at House In The Wood this week! 🌳🌱🌞
The first school to join us is Plamondon Panthers, who will be learning all about geology today, so stay tuned for updates and pictures from our geology pit! 🪨

On the third slide is a picture from the live dissection of a dead fish found by students along the waterfront. Huge thank you to Ms. Mead for the impromptu anatomy lesson! 🐟

Happy Thanksgiving, House In The Wood Families! 🦃🍗🥕🥔

This Saturday, November 19th, we will once again be giving out Thanksgiving meals at the Settlement building (same building as pick-up/drop-off for general summer camp sessions, 1400 W Augusta Blvd)!!! Boxes will be given out on a first come, first serve basis, starting at noon until we run out! Each meal will include meat, canned vegetables, potatoes, and more! We hope you all are staying safe and warm! 🍁🍂🍁🍂

Thanks to Chris Harvey (staff 2001-2005) for jumping in to help with summer camp. He said he was visiting me before I retired but confidentially I think he came to get a dose of working with the campers. He credits House In The Wood with giving him the skills to excel in his current job--assistant principal at an inner city London school. He hopes to be founding principal at a new charter school opening soon.

Thanks to Curt, our Tree Climbing Director for setting up our program and training our staff. THIS summer I got to teach tree climbing to our campers. What fun! I don't usually get to do program anymore.

Still more thanks to catch up on...Sunday FUNDAY in July. We had board members and their family members visit camp to do activities with the campers. Just letting you know--they wanted to know when you were coming back. Thank you so much for sharing your time and expertise with our kiddos.

It is NATIONAL DOG DAY. Meet Siegfried. Unfortunately he was not really ready for summer camp this year as he is still a puppy and had bad manners. Some campers got to meet him and we both always waved goodbye when the school bus left after a session.
