Happy National Custodians’ Day!

Today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate and sincerely thank our District Administrative Complex custodial team for all they do to take care of our buildings and the people who work in it each day.

Michael, Marisol, Madeline, and José, your work may happen behind the scenes, but your impact is seen and felt throughout our entire building. From keeping our spaces clean, safe, and welcoming, to responding to the everyday needs that keep our workplace running smoothly, you are an essential part of our Volusia County Schools family.

Thank you for the pride you take in your work, the care you show to our building, and the many ways you make our days a little easier. We appreciate your dedication, your hard work, and most importantly, we appreciate YOU!

Our NEW Academic Coaches came together for professional learning focused on two essential areas of instructional leadership: analyzing student learning and supporting effective classroom management.

Through purposeful partnerships, coaches explored coaching tools, examined practices, and engaged in meaningful conversations designed to strengthen their ability to use evidence of student learning to guide instructional conversations and support teachers in creating positive, productive learning environments. When coaches sharpen their practice, they are better equipped to empower teachers and ultimately, impact student learning.

A special thank you to our dedicated Academic Coaches for their commitment to continuous learning and collaboration, and a heartfelt thank you to Deltona Middle School for graciously hosting our professional learning!

Our Secondary Academic Coaches spent a meaningful Professional Learning Day immersed in instruction at Creekside Middle School and Spruce Creek High School!

Through focused learning walks, coaches stepped into ELA and Math classrooms, observing teaching and learning, collecting evidence, and gaining a closer look at instructional practices in action.

Following the classroom visits, coaches engaged in collaborative evidence calibration using the district’s 4 Look-Fors. Together, they examined what they observed, connected evidence to instructional practice, and prepared purposeful feedback to support meaningful conversations with teachers.

In addition to the leaders in the ELA & Math Departments, the day also included valuable collaboration with the REA team, supporting coaches in using assessment data to inform instructional conversations. Muchas gracias to the ESOL Department, for providing guidance around data analysis and supporting the instructional needs of multilingual learners.

From classroom observation to evidence analysis to intentional feedback, our secondary coaches continue to strengthen the practices that help teachers grow and students thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to the faculty and staff at Creekside Middle School and Spruce Creek High School for welcoming our coaches into your classrooms, opening your doors to learning, and allowing us to learn alongside you!

Our Elementary Academic Coaches engaged in a collaborative Professional Learning Day centered on instructional learning walks, evidence-based reflection, and intentional coaching.

Across two elementary schools, coaches visited multiple classrooms with a focused lens on ELA and Math instruction, gathering evidence aligned to the district’s 4 Look-Fors.

The learning continued as coaches calibrated evidence, analyzed instructional trends, and prepared intentional feedback designed to support teacher reflection and professional growth.

We also appreciate the partnership of the REA Department, who supported coaches in leveraging assessment data to inform instructional conversations, and the ESOL Department, who provided valuable guidance for considering the instructional needs of multilingual learners.

This is coaching in action: collaborating around evidence, connecting data to instruction, and turning learning into meaningful next steps for teachers and students!

A million thanks to Pride Elementary and Sunrise Elementary in Deltona for hosting our learning walks, allowing us to experience the great things happening on each campus.
