During yesterday’s bargaining session, Volusia County Schools and Volusia United Educators (VUE) both proposed new articles and provided responses to previously proposed changes.

Prior to full Collective Bargaining over the Instructional Bargaining Agreement, the district and VUE tentatively agreed to the allocation of the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation (TSIA) funding, which requires an additional $611,111 from the general fund.

At yesterday's session, the District offered $6 million for allocation for raises, supplements, longevity, and retention, as well as 10 consecutive workdays for parental leave, which could increase costs by upward of $500,000.

Both parties also are discussing a $3,000 raise for speech and language pathologists.

While trading articles, the district and VUE also discussed working hours and conditions as it pertains to planning days and processes in the event of under- or overpayment

The next bargaining session will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2.

🌟 Kicking off a new year of partnership! 🌟

What an exciting morning for Volusia County Schools as we brought together our school principals and incredible Adopt-A-School partners for the 2026 Adopt-A-School Kickoff Breakfast!

Today was all about connection, collaboration, and community. Our principals and partners had the opportunity to come together, discuss the needs of our schools and students, and begin building meaningful partnerships for the year ahead.

We are incredibly excited about what’s ahead for VCS! When our schools, businesses, and community partners work together, we create even more opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and succeed.

A special thank you to the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association – Volusia Chapter and all of our community partners who continue to invest their time, resources, and support into Volusia County Schools.

This morning was just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see the impact these partnerships will make throughout the 2026–2027 school year!

𝙈𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙚: Our new bi-weekly series!

With it being National Dog Day, we're excited to introduce our newest series, 𝙈𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙚, where we see what everyone's favorite VCS K9 has been up to.

As part of his ongoing training, Maverick traveled to Port Canaveral for the first time for some odor detection practice. That sniffer has to be up to s***f! 🚢

He also spent time visiting the Deltona Middle Chargers and Highbanks Learning Center, where he made some new friends along the way. Maverick is making progress with tracking training on campuses throughout the county.

From training days to school days, Maverick stays busy putting his skills to work across Volusia County Schools.

Where will Maverick pop up next? Stay tuned to find out! 🐾

Today, we join millions around the world in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, a beloved music icon, philanthropist, and champion for children.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she helped foster a love of reading for generations of young learners by putting high-quality, age-appropriate books directly into the hands of millions of children throughout the world.

At Volusia County Schools, we share Dolly’s belief that literacy changes lives. Through our PreK-12 literacy initiative, we are committed to helping every student become a confident reader, writer, and communicator.

From fostering a love of books in our youngest learners to strengthening literacy skills across all grade levels, we know, just like Dolly did, that reading opens doors to opportunity.

Dolly's family is encouraging donations to the Imagination Library in lieu of flowers. Learn more about the Imagination Library at imaginationlibrary.com.

Extending our sincere appreciation to the Central Florida Indian Community for their generous donations to Osteen Elementary and Champion Elementary!

The nonprofit group delivered school supplies, snacks, and more items, all of which will come in handy for these Title I schools. 🙏

We’re so grateful for CFIC’s partnership and the kindness they have shown to several of our schools over the past three years. Here’s to many more! 💙

Special shoutout to WFTV Channel 9 for joining us to capture this wonderful story.

We’re just two weeks in, but we know this group of more than 300 new teachers is off to a great start, and we’re so thankful they chose Volusia County Schools as the place to make a difference in the lives of our students and families. 🙏
