Saturday we participated in a 250th Celebration Whiskey Tasting with the Adams-Onis Treaty Chapter DAR in Winter Garden, FL. We were treated to The Rosie O’Grady Bagpipes and wonderful company.

Did you know that George Washington established the Badge of Military Merit, the precursor to the Purple Heart, while commander in chief of the Continental Army, on August 7, 1782? Join us in paying tribute to the oldest military decoration on August 8 at Mount Vernon’s official National Purple Heart Day Commemoration Ceremony and learn more about the creation of the Purple Heart and why it became a military decoration.

We celebrated America 250 again today with the Ft Davenport Chapter DAR and Davenport History Museum. We had the opportunity to visit with many friends, including the always charming Abigail Adams. ❤️
