The San Felipe Del Rio Difference

Del Rio, TX – “The San Felipe Del Rio Difference” is clear when you compare our school district with other school districts in the middle Rio Grande region. For example, San Felipe Del Rio CISD far surpasses neighboring school districts in the number of high school students who earn a college associate degree.

In 2026, seventy-nine San Felipe Del Rio students graduated from college with an associate degree before or very soon after they graduated from high school. Those seventy-nine San Felipe Del Rio students were part of our Early College High School, an innovative program with our partner Southwest Texas College.

San Felipe Del Rio students fulfilled all requirements and earned their associate’s degree by completing sixty hours of college credit. Those students challenged themselves, built their confidence, gained knowledge, and set the stage for success that saved their families tens of thousands of dollars in college expenses. But our kids did not achieve this accomplishment by themselves. They did it with the support, guidance, and love of their parents, teachers, and the larger San Felipe Del Rio community.

It is important to point out that nearby school districts also prioritize advanced academics and do a good job supporting their high school students working to earn an associate degree while still in high school. But those districts trailed far behind San Felipe Del Rio CISD in the number of high school students who earned a college degree. In fact, San Felipe Del Rio had almost twice as many students earn an associate’s degree as Uvalde CISD and almost three times as many as Eagle Pass ISD in 2026.
