s have changed life as we know it. Don Quixote’s Academy is a vision born from two passionate souls. We believe education is not only contained in the printed words between the covers of a textbook. We also believe education extends beyond the judgment of a standardized test. What we offer is that intangible, that “je ne sais quoi,” that understanding of knowledge and its importance in life. His knowledge spreads across many subjects and disciplines. He draws upon many complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems. Mrs. Mancha is an empath ,but importantly, she is a mother. She is sensitive to the emotions and needs of others. She is the hug someone needs when no one seems to notice you need one. She cries at movies. She is has many years of experience working with children and at-risk youth. They are both artists. Painters who appreciate form, structure and context. All of these qualities underlie the foundation of Don Quixote Academy’s mission. By supplementing core curriculum, we aim to assure your child’s progress in specific subjects with tutoring services. With enrichment services, we aim to provide activities and teachings meant to show your child there are more than one way to solve a problem. With college guidance services, we aim to help your student gain admission and even tour colleges and universities. They are passionate, highly qualified, experienced educators and with your help, they want to ensure the success of your child’s education.

National Geographic photographers ventured to places far and wide to capture the year’s most fascinating images. Out of more than 2.3 million photos, 20 were selected as our Pictures of the Year. See them all at: https://on.natgeo.com/4eWpEz3

Ami Vitale photographed a 70-day-old fetus of a rhino conceived through in vitro fertilization. In January, scientists announced that they had for the first time achieved a pregnancy after using IVF to transfer a southern white rhino embryo into a southern white rhino surrogate. But before scientists could confirm the pregnancy, the surrogate mother died from an unrelated bacterial infection. A necropsy revealed that she was pregnant. While the moment was “heartbreaking,” Ami Vitale says, it proved that IVF is viable in rhinos. The team has plans to try again in early 2025, this time transferring a northern white rhino embryo into a southern white rhino surrogate. Vitale’s work documenting steps to save northern white rhinos over the past 15 years is featured in “Explorer: Rhino Resurrection,” a forthcoming National Geographic film.
