We’re so glad the San Diego County Fair is back in full swing this year. It has been 2 years since we were able to demonstrate lacemaking at the Fair. Along with our booth, we have a 4-shelf display case. It’s a good way to show that lace is, indeed, made by hand! …and in the San Diego area. We are representing the Chula Bobbin Lacers, as well as the Silvergate Lacers.
There were several nice lace pieces entered in the competition. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who entered.
If you’ll be in the San Diego area before the Fair closes on July 4th, please stop by and say “hi”! There will be lace makers there every day.

It’s so nice that the Silvergate Lacers are able to meet in person again! Everyone was making lace and enjoying conversations at our March meeting. Several members were working on Cantú pieces that were started at the Winter Lace Conference. Some were working on the Milanese patterns they worked on at the conference. Regardless the lace, everyone had a great time.

More fun at the Del Mar Fair. We had a number of people drop by the booth to talk to us about the lace making while demoing and had a few people sign up interested in the beginner class on July 8 at the Rancho Penasquitos Library at 1:00pm.

The Silvergate Lacers are starting to get ready for the 2017 San Diego County Fair. The theme this year will be "Where the West is Fun" which will highlight the history of San Diego and the West during the mid- to late 1800s. Drop by our booth to see demos of lacemaking, displays of lace, and for the adventuresome, try your hand at making a bit of lace!
