Latino Resource Center-NIU The Latino Resource Center (LRC) is a diversity center under the Division of Academic Affairs at Northern Illinois University.

The Latino Resource Center is a unit of the Division of Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at NIU. Better known as the LRC by students and staff, the Latino Resource Center focuses on student-centered service by developing partnerships that promote academic success, while establishing an inclusive community that builds collaborative relationships across campus and the surrounding area. Some of our services include the following programs and student organizations:

Adela de la Torre Latino Honor Society (ATLHS): the first honor society initiated by Latinos at NIU. Its mission is to recognize the academic excellence among students who either identify as Latino/a/x or wish to explore Latinx cultures and identities by promoting student leadership, participating in outreach and community service initiatives, and offering scholarships to members. Mentoring and Engaging Through Academic Success (METAS): a mentoring program designed to aid freshmen or transfer students who either identify as Latino/a/x or wish to explore Latinx cultures and identities. The program helps students have a successful transition in their academics and social life at NIU.

Join us Thursday to learn about pre-Cuauhtรฉmoc sellos (stamps) and create your own! Eldritch Cruz, Chicago based artist, is coming to NIU and will be teaching us about the stamp-based visual systems rooted in pre-Columbian Mesoamerican artistic traditions.
As you design your own sello, explore how art can serve as a tool for cultural affirmation, decolonial thinking, and community connection.

No prior art experience is required. All materials will be provided.
We will have Tote Bags and T-shirts available for you to stamp while supplies last.
