Our NIU Executive MBA Class of 2028 began its Executive MBA journey with Orientation Weekend in late August.

From connecting with classmates, faculty and staff at the welcome dinner to participating in engaging seminars, workshops and team-building activities, students started building the relationships and skills that will support their success throughout the program. Students also heard from EMBA alumni from the Class of 2023, along with current EMBA students in their second year of the program.

Now immersed in their coursework, the Class of 2028 is already embracing the collaborative spirit, leadership development and lifelong connections that define the NIU Executive MBA program.

NIU’s Global MBA Class of 2027 officially kicked off their journey with Orientation!

The day began with engaging team-building activities led by Don Souder, challenging students to think creatively, communicate effectively, and work together. From defining teamwork with random words to recreating hidden LEGO structures, students had plenty of opportunities to collaborate and get to know their new classmates.

Students connected with Dean Joan Phillips-Hernandez and other NIU faculty and staff, building relationships that will support them throughout their Global MBA journey. Advisor Taylor Leonard welcomed the cohort and shared more about the program and the exciting year ahead.

We can’t wait to see the collaboration, growth, and success this cohort achieves throughout the year!

Our College of Business Pep Rally energy was UNREAL! 🐾🎉

Dean Joan Phillips-Hernandez, Interim Head Football Coach Rob Harley and Women's Head Basketball Coach Jacey Brooks kicked off the rally with inspirational messages. The NIU Pep Band, the Silverettes and Victor E. Huskie helped us get into the spirit before students enjoyed a pizza lunch.

The journey is officially underway for the newest students in our One-Year MBA Chicago program. Their first week included opportunities to meet fellow cohort members, hear from college leadership and begin building connections at their welcome dinner and orientation. We cannot wait to see how this talented group learns, grows and succeeds together over the next year and beyond.

Did you ever wonder where your garbage goes after garbage day? Just ask George Strom, Executive MBA '23, who works as area vice president at LRS, one of the nation's leading independent waste diversion, recycling and portable services providers.

Thanks to George and his team at LRS's Elburn, Illinois, facility, for welcoming our NIU videographer this morning! We were on location filming a promotional video highlighting our Executive MBA program. It’s always a great day when we get to visit incredible partners like LRS and shine a spotlight on the businesses and accomplishments of our Huskie alumni!

🎓Congratulations to our One-Year MBA Chicago cohort, class of 2026, who just completed and graduated from the program!

Dean Joan Phillips-Hernandez awarded graduates a commemorative MBA piece and officially welcomed them to the Huskie alumni family during a celebratory dinner. She reminded our newest graduates that “once a Huskie, you’re always a Huskie” and encouraged them to continue learning, growing and supporting one another as they build on the network they have created.

Dr. Phillips-Hernandez was joined by Anthony Preston, senior assistant dean, as well as faculty and staff in the College of Business, to honor these students and their accomplishments over this past year.

Congratulations, again, to our One-Year MBA Chicago, 2026, students. We cannot wait to see what you will accomplish!🎓⭐

Our NIU One-Year MBA Schaumburg students concluded their international immersion with a visit to the historic city of Mdina, where a guided walking tour offered a closer look at Malta's rich history, architecture and panoramic views.

The experience concluded with a farewell dinner, giving students an opportunity to reflect on a week of company visits, industry discussions, and cultural experiences across Switzerland and Malta. From global business leaders to iconic landmarks, the international immersion provided valuable perspectives that extended learning well beyond the classroom.

Students in our One-Year MBA Schaumburg cohort continued their international immersion trip with exclusive visits that provided firsthand insight into two of Malta's dynamic industries.

Students began the day at the iconic Dragonara Casino. They explored the property's remarkable transformation from a historic palace to Malta's first casino while learning about the country's growing role in the global gaming industry.

Later, the group toured Baxter's healthcare manufacturing facility for a behind-the-scenes look at the company's operations. Through presentations from professionals across multiple departments and a guided facility tour, students gained a deeper understanding of innovation, manufacturing, research and development, as well as the collaboration required to bring healthcare products to patients around the world.

These experiences gave students a unique opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world business practices and global industry leaders.

Students in our One-Year MBA Schaumburg program continued exploring Malta through a day of industry visits and conversations with business leaders.

The day began at the Malta Marriott Resort & Spa, where Alex Incorvaja, General Manager, welcomed students for a networking session and presentation on Malta's growing tourism sector. Students also learned about the property's marketing strategy and the opportunities and challenges shaping the local hospitality industry.

Later, the group visited Farsons Brewers & Bottlers to learn about the history of Malta's leading beverage producer and the iconic Cisk and Kinnie brands. A discussion with Peter Mercieca, Head of International Business (Europe), gave students insight into the company's export strategy, international growth, and approach to expanding Maltese brands in global markets.
