The Growing Place is a not-for-profit organization that has provided quality early care and education for the families of DeKalb County since 1973.

In February 1973 Betty Drake established The Growing Place as one of the first not-for-profit child care programs in the area. Today, The Growing Place serves over 250 children, having served thousands over the last four decades. The Center has been enriched by its longstanding collaboration with Kishwaukee Community College, NIU, and District #428. The Growing Place also partners with Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C), Kishwaukee United Way, and DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.

Our First Book Fair was a Huge Success! 📚✨

We are officially blown away! Our community came together to put over $4,300 worth of books into the hands of our children and families.

Because of your incredible support:

$812.70 was donated directly to help every child access stories.

We earned $2,010.81 in Scholastic rewards!

These rewards will be used to completely refresh our center’s library with brand-new titles, diverse stories, and durable hardcovers for all our classrooms. Thank you for helping us grow our love of reading! 🌳📖
