Illinois Academic Advising Association (ILACADA)

The Illinois Academic Advising Association page is used to promote events and opportunities.

Mission Statement:
ILACADA fosters and inspires quality leadership through academic advising for the educational development of students and the professional development of advisors. As an affiliate of NACADA, ILACADA promotes the overall awareness of academic advising as a profession. ILACADA believes that academic advising is an integral part of the higher education mission and that it fosters among students a lasting appreciation for and understanding of the value of a college education. In addition, we believe that academic advisors play a vital role in the lives of students and contribute directly to their success. It is evident that advising relationships provide students with a background and basis for their development as students and the role advising plays on college campuses is an integral component of the teaching and learning activities taking place on a daily basis. We adhere to the NACADA principles of “advising as teaching” and the core values of advising which state that academic advisors are responsible:
• for themselves and their professional practices
• to individuals they advise
• for involving others
• to their institutions
• to higher education, and
• to their educational communities

There's a special guest star joining us at conference next week, and he's ready to bark up the party 🐾

We're excited to have Pawfficer Korg, Illinois State University's own therapy doggo, visit us during the lunch hour at our 15th anniversary conference next Friday, September 25th. He might not be able to hear any of the presentations, but Korg is ready to share some joy and comfort with us as we visit ISU's campus. Make sure you register before Friday's deadline for your chance to hang out with this good lil' guy!
