We are so grateful to the DeKalb County Community Foundation (IL) for selecting St. Mary School as one of 18 recipients of their Spring 2026 grant! 🎉 Thanks to the hard work of our administration and staff in pursuing this opportunity, we will be making meaningful facility improvements that will benefit our students and community for years to come. Congratulations to all of this year’s grant recipients! 👏
🎉 $119,900 awarded to 18 DeKalb County organizations!
This spring, grants from the Community Foundation are funding projects across the county. From new turnout gear for Lee Fire Department and security upgrades at St. Mary School - DeKalb, IL, to tech for Opportunity House, Inc vocational training and refrigeration for Voluntary Action Center.

As Pope Leo’s new encyclical looks toward an AI-filled future, we’re proud that our middle schoolers have already been ahead of the curve! Through our collaboration with NIU this past year, students have been exploring the uses, ethics, and boundaries of AI firsthand. We are grateful for the Holy Father’s thoughtful guidance as we work to be good stewards of both our environment and the technology we’ve been entrusted with. 🙏💻

On this Memorial Day, the St. Mary School community honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are grateful for every family who has carried the weight of sacrifice. Your loved ones’ courage will never be forgotten.
May they rest in eternal peace, and may we always be worthy of the freedom they gave us.

What a wonderful morning! We celebrated our scholarship recipients and students who earned honor roll every single quarter at our Honors Breakfast today. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you! 🏆✨
As the school year winds down, here’s everything you need to know for summer:
📬 Stay connected! Keep an eye on your email for important communications while school is out.
🏫 Office Closure: The school office will be closed June 3 – July 10. Email and phone messages will be checked regularly, and appointments are available during this time. Reach us at [email protected].
☀️ Limited Summer Hours: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, July 14 – August 7, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
📅 Regular Hours Resume: Monday, August 10, from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
🎒 Mark Your Calendars! Join us for our School Supply Drop-Off and Back to School Bash on Monday, August 17, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. We can’t wait to see you!
What a perfect way to end the year! Today’s Field Day was an absolute blast, and our Lancers gave it their all from the very first event to the very last!

What a day at St. Mary School! 🎉 This morning we celebrated the retirement of Mrs. Pelikan after an incredible 27 years of service. Her dedication to her students and passion for teaching have left a lasting mark on this community, and she will be deeply missed. Thank you to all who joined us for her retirement Mass! We also had a special visit from the SMS Class of 2022 — current high school seniors who came back to their alma mater for our annual clap-out, walking these halls one last time as Lancers. Congratulations! 🎓
A reminder that tomorrow is our FINAL day of school with an early dismissal at 10:50am and there is no aftercare or bus service. Field day is on, so bring a labeled towel and water bottle, wear your field day t-shirt and tennis shoes, and consider packing a backup pair of shoes! See you for one more day, Lancers!
