Hey, incoming Huskies! Are you accepted into the Honors Program? Or did you receive an email inviting you to apply?

If so, participate in the Honors Orientation Game this summer! 🎉 On the day of your Orientation, you can engage with the Honors Program by completing different tasks. Be sure to read through the instructions here to prepare so you can participate when you attend Orientation. If you complete the game, you will win an Honors sticker!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us or visit the Honors table at the Resource Fair during Orientation!

Introducing our last Honors Senior Spotlight 🌟 We are highlighting our senior Honors students to celebrate their graduation!

Katrina Rath, a Business Management major, is our next Honors Senior Spotlight! Katrina shared how being part of the Honors Program has impacted her time here at NIU: “I loved how I did not have stress about waiting for registering for classes due to having priority registration. The Honors Program also helped establish a sense of community and allowed me to participate in classes with other Honors students.”

Katrina will be working as Development Analyst at a firm in Geneva!

Honors Director, Dr. Radasanu, recently presented at the Honors Education at Research Universities (HERU) conference at Arizona State University. She presented with Justice Challenge colleagues on their presentation titled, “Nationwide Collaborative Expands Access to Honors Opportunities”

Introducing our next Honors Senior Spotlight 🌟 We are highlighting our senior Honors students to celebrate their graduation!

Ryan Welch, a Mechanical Engineering major, is our next Honors Senior Spotlight! Ryan shared how being part of the Honors Program has impacted his time here at NIU: “the Honors Program played a fundamental role in my success at NIU, especially when it came to planning my courses and having the ability to register early. My Honors Fellow was always there to answer questions and served as a great role model throughout my time in the program.”

Ryan will be pursuing his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame!

It's been one month since we had our last Honors House Community Night event and we miss our Tuesday nights over in Patterson! Rest assured though that our Honors House Community Night events will be back in the fall semester. We can't wait for more events, crafts, games, snacks, and community!

Introducing our next Honors Senior Spotlight 🌟 We are highlighting our senior Honors students to celebrate their graduation!

Madison Randle, an Electrical Engineering major, is our next Honors Senior Spotlight! Madison shared how being part of the Honors Program has impacted her time here at NIU: “I was surrounded with like minded peers, and made many memories such as the freshman retreat.” Madison also said that her favorite Honors Program memory were the memories that were made in Honors House during her freshman year.

Madison will be working as an engineer!

During the spring 2026 semester, Dr. Lynn Herrmann taught an Honors seminar titled, "Startup Standup: A Steampunk Journey to Innovation"

At the end of the semester, the class participated in the Standup Cup, where they pitched a solution to meet the needs of their client, all in the Steampunk alternate reality. It was so much fun--congratulations to the winning group!

Alia Moran, an Anthropology and Art History double major, is our next Honors Senior Spotlight! Alia shared how being part of the Honors Program has impacted her time here at NIU: “the Honors Program has been the most helpful experience for me at NIU. It allowed me to challenge myself within my coursework through honors courses and seminars (which eventually inspired my historical topic for my masters degree) and gave me so many opportunities in research and study abroad experiences.”

Alia will be attending UW-Milwaukee for its dual degree program in MLIS in Library Science and MA in History!

Introducing our next Honors Senior Spotlight 🌟 We are highlighting our senior Honors students to celebrate their graduation!

Charlie Vazquez Acosta, a Mathematics major, is our next Honors Senior Spotlight! Charlie shared how being part of the Honors Program has impacted his time here at NIU: “the Honors Program provided me with opportunities to engage in advanced research, connect with faculty mentors, and build meaningful relationships with peers. It challenged me academically and helped prepare me for graduate-level work, while also giving me the support and community needed to succeed.”

Charlie will be continuing his education at NIU in the Applied Mathematics PhD program. He has also secured a Graduate Teaching Assistantship with the Department of Mathematical Sciences!
