Last Friday, we had a group of students from NIU come do some spring cleaning at the History Center as part of NIU Cares Day! And just in time for the spring season.

A big thank you to all the volunteers, and to Joel Barczak from Blumen Gardens and Cathy Anderson from DeKalb County Master Gardeners for leading the students and organizing the effort. They did a great job! 🌱👏

And save the date for our next volunteer opportunity, A Day of Service to celebrate National Volunteer Week on Saturday, April 25, 9 am - noon!

Last week, Huskies went to the Ellwood House Museum to clean up the Visitor Center in preparation for its 2026 re-opening! 👏

We are so proud of everyone who took the time to give back. Way to represent NIU with ! 🐾

NIU faculty, staff and students are invited to register to attend The Real Talk Conference: Stories of the Past, Visions for the Future on Friday, February 6 in the NIU Holmes Student Center.

Featuring dynamic keynote speakers and interactive sessions led by NIU's students, faculty, staff and community members, the conference will explore how the wisdom of the past can inform and inspire visions for a more just and connected future. Designed to bridge generational gaps, this gathering invites attendees to listen deeply, speak authentically, and honor the voices that have shaped our communities across time.
